For anyone having this issue: My CEL popped on the other day for this and I just took off the top plastic part right in front of the hoot latch mechanism. You can reach down and touch the whole assembly from there. I found some debris, leaves and acorn chunks stuck where it moves up and down. I removed it all and just manually actuated it up and down, it should auto open by itself slowly after closing it. I cleared the codes, with one being permanent and restarted car and I had a volunteer start the car while I watched it and it close and opened the shutters fine. CEL went off and good to go. Just a thing to check before tearing too much apart and or replacing that stupidly expensive part. Definitely have someone start the car while you watch it move its full motion before doing anything to see if there really is a problem.

This helped alot. I gotta figure out why mine aren't working. I hit a deer and 2 fell off but still have 4 perfectly connect that aren't moving. I'm gonna try seeing if something stuck in it.

Wow. My Dart has this CEL, as you called it. A Dodge dealership service dept quotes me $1300 to replace the AGS and its sensor. I'll be sure to check on this solution. Thanks!

Hi. I took it out. Cost $163 to replace. My 2016 Dodge Dart Runs Better. I took out the top and bottom shutter which triggers the engine light. The removal of middle shutters don't trigger engine light. Car does NOT run cooler, just better. Thinking if rerouting shortening the air intake hose.... Everything seems to have to replaced on the 2016 dodge dart. It's a low cost car that won't break the bank if you watch all their videos. They got cool tools too.

Ive heard if you are running aftermarket intakes like a short ram or cold air it can benefit from removal (keep motor for grill wired so it doesnt throw a code) but if it is stock it will increase mpg, help keep engine warm too but it all depends and will most definetely void any warranty

That's what I'm thinking, my bumper scrapes all the time and it just threw a code yesterday. Granted it's still summertime but ALL of this for that dumb motor?!?
