is your car’s temperature gauge getting too hot?
There's no need to panic. If the temperature gauge needle moves into the red, this usually means a problem with the cooling fan. If this happens while you’re driving, you should pull over as soon as possible.
The cooling fan will need to be fixed quickly, as continued driving will cause the engine to overheat and lead to a lot of trouble. You can easily identify and fix this issue yourself. There are four failure points that need checking.
Note: Check your owner’s manual for further instructions and precautions.
1. Test the motor
a) Check under the hood, locate the cooling fan and see if it is spinning. If it isn’t, something is wrong with the fan system.
b) Cooling fans are simple DC motors. You should start by testing the motor. You should see a cable coming off the motor. Follow the wire from the fan motor towards the engine, until you get to the plug for the fan connector. Gently unplug the cable from the connector.
c) Get hold of jumper wires for testing. Hook up one end to the positive and negative terminals of your car battery and the other end to the terminals on the fan motor. It doesn’t really matter which way you connect this.
CAUTION: The fan blades are sharp. Take all necessary safety precautions.
If the fan motor doesn’t start working, the problem is with the motor and you just need to get a replacement.
2. (TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
check your car's temperature sensor by unplugging the male-female contact plug when the temperature is beyond the limit(where the radiator fan starts at the middle of the temperature gauge)
3. Check the fuse:
If the motor does come on, the problem is somewhere else. At this point, we know the motor isn’t getting any power. So check the fuse to make sure if it hasn’t blown (it should be continuous). If the fuse has blown, then it needs replacement.
4. Check the temperature switch:
The fan gets its power by a switch called the cooling fan temperature switch. The position of this switch depends on your car. Check your car manual to locate it. To check it you need to unplug it, ground the terminal from that end and take the other end of the ground wire to the negative terminal of the battery. If the fan starts working, then all you need is a new sensor for the cooling fan.
5. Check the cooling fan relay:
After all of that, the fan may still refuse to work. There is one more thing left to check, the cooling fan relay. Go to the fuse box which should show you where the relay is. Unplug the relay and just replace it. Over time these relays can stop working and simply need replacement.
6. check the thermostat valve
if your engine is still hot check your thermostat valve or replace it with a lower degree temperature rating.

Hi Saurav your videos help a lot, as a DIY enthusiast myself your channel is usually my got to channel when I face problems. I dont rely on mechanic these days as I they usually mess up more than they can fix and I am left with an even faulty car (TATA INDICA EV2 CR4 LX DIESEL).My car runs great only there are mostly electrical faults which are huge turndowns 🥵. You are correct that many mechenic dont know how to properly diagnose a problem.and they direct many things bypassing many sensors which is more worst thing for engine under long running condition. But cayring your own vehicle with your own knowledge is like taking care of a child. Engine are like small kid who dont know how to drive itself and that's why it need soo much of care. Thanks for the comment Sir I meter is not showing over temperature then their is no problem Also after driving 15 to 20 km temperature. Niddle will not comes to quarter position but it will come little bit more than quarter position .if radiatior is working fine and their is no coolent leakage from any point.

I have decided replace the temperature sensor switch & thermostat valve of my 2oo4/5 Indica V2 diesel DLG BS 2, though it's been running & working fine after flushed the radiator with liqui moly radiator coolant flush, just like you demonstrated by you & the radiator coolant was filled with by mixing distilled water & it's working great temp meter showing the same like my new car in 2005 😊 yet my car is now 15 years old & run more than 85000 KM, got my FC done few months back, I feel radiator temp switch and thermostat valve has to be replaced waiting eagerly for the spare parts ordered on boodmo online portal & I am going to do it my self at home like I flushed the radiator with liqui moly radiator flush & put new coolant, thank you very much for your video guidance & demonstration, God bless you 🙏🙌😊.

My car is showing overheating signal in bumper to bumper traffic after running around 180 km, during the overheating time radiator fan was in stopped condition, When I have checked after 30 minutes, radiator fan turned on automatic on when I gave the high accelerator to car for 5 minutes consecutively, after remove the thermostate switch coupler fan is running.... What could be the reason the overheating issue, because only during the overheating signal time radiator fan was stopped.

Brother. Mere paas obd scanner hain. Meine notice kia in sardio Mein jab without ac car chala rha hun. Toh coolant temp 93 se 98°c rhe raha hain. Jo mere hisaab se zyada hain. Radiator ka fan start hota hain jab fan 97 hit karta hain aur 93 Mein stop hp jata hain. Jab ki agar Mein ac on karu toh radiator fan lagatar start rehta hain, US Waqt temp 82 se 87 rehta hain... Jo normal hain Car without ac high temperature kyu maintain kar rhi hain. Meine 2 mahine pehle radiator flush karwaya tha with coolant. Kuch bata sakte ho?

Bhai mera indica cr4 diesel. Engine ka temperature middle pe jane se radiator fan on hua or firse band ho gya. Gari idle pe test kiya. Ac on karne se kaam kar raha hain Kya sahi hain?

Bhai tata manza diesel coolant tank me tank ko full karne par water thoda bahar aata hai.. Oil cooler replaced.. Kya head gasket ya fir head Crack ho gaya??? Bubble nahi aata but hot water dheere se upar uthate hue aaata hai...

Mere pass indigo marina hai and uska temperature meter uthta nahi hai, bahut zayada heat hone oar uthta hsi pls suggest.

Sensor ko check karyea or ek bar instrument cluster ka meter ko bhi check karyea ho sakta hai meter me hi problem hua ho Aisa hota hai bahut gadi me ki meter ka problem

Tata Nexon me , 60-70km car chali fir automatically cooling dena band kar di ac or blower ki hawa bhi kam ho gyi.aaj Mene service center le gya to unhone thermistor ko change kia hai. Kya ye Shi hai?

Thanks for the comment Sir Thermistor change karne se problem chala jana chahiye but ek bar alternator ka voltage check karyea Alternator ka problem se bhi aisa kabhi kabhi hota hai.

Thanks for the comment Sir Yes it has more problems but i am helping many by video calling and rectifying theri problems. Actually many Mechenic charge more money for small problems and many Mechenic do not know the exact rectification that why they directly change the engine parts and after some time another problem appears Swift has less problems also their mechenic are good And engine is not so complicated
