Like you I would say replace the component.... However the Bar's brand works the best in a pinch

I've used black pepper as well as oatmeal in a pinch, back in my farming days..

No, none of my jeeps have ever had a leaky heater core yet. Just talking about it in general. I've owned so many vehicles that I honestly can't tell you which ones I've used this on, but it works on very small leaks extremely effectively.
