While I don’t think Shadow is the only new character we’re getting, one thing for sure is it would be tough adding a bunch of new characters in a sequel, without messing it up. I would like to see Metal Sonic though.

In Sonic 3 I'm really hoping to see Tails when he was a baby. Since, we already saw Sonic as a baby in the first film. And in the second film, we saw Knuckles as a baby as well. I know we got to hear Tails' and Knuckles' back story, but when we heard Tails'back story, he wasn't a baby. So I'm really hoping to Tails as a baby in the third film of Sonic the hedgehog. And yes I am excited for the movie.

Number 5: Amy is one of the more or less main characters. She would fit well, but her personality over the years is based on searching Sonic. Tails already searched Sonic and was his fan. Introducing herself must be... kind of fast. She needs to know Sonic fast to worship him and make him tired of her. Number 4: Metal is one of the most realistic predictions. Remember what he did in IDW? This will probably be the case. Eggman build him, but passed away before. Now his assistant (Rock) activates Metal Sonic and Metal becomes like a Terminator. See one target to kill: Sonic. And he can't be stopped because eggman is dead. The problem is here: Shadow. He will be too similar in this movie Number 3: Chaos... Well, probably not Number 2: Blaze is not fitting here. Compared to other characters she is a bit too random. It's like making Youngster Joey the main sidekick of Red Number 1: Rouge is realistic enough. She and Omega will probably open Shadow and become a Terminator team

But she learns Shadow's planning genocide and can't turn a blind eye, so she helps the heroes in the climax. 3) Here's how to work Chaos into Shadow's evil plan: Instead of the ARK, Shadow wants to destroy the world by summoning Chaos, force feeding it emeralds tainted with his hatred, and turn the peaceful god into monstrous Perfect Chaos. 4) I don't expect to see Metal without Eggman, but it can be a finale for Sonic's stolen quill from the first two movies. It can power Metal, then be destroyed in his defeat. 5) It's little-known trivia that Amy has psychic powers, and fans need to be reminded. I see her coming to Earth looking for a golden hedgehog she's seen in a vision (that can be both Sonic AND Shadow).

Some people are on or off to see Jim Carrey return. I would argue that the third movie still needs Robotnik back especially if the film is going to take story beats from Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Dr. Robotnik is the soul reason for finding Shadow and the unfinished work of his late grandfather Gerald Robotnik. If it's going to be a complete trilogy, then I think a third movie would be a satisfying way to wrap up his character. Now this is just my speculation/prediction but I felt that the second movie has been vaguely hinting at an alien invasion occuring. Shadow the Hedgehog does involve aliens. I'm feeling that an alien race must've discovered Earth and save Robotnik somehow after his robot got destroyed. Robotnik goes through some special surgery which makes him look more faithful to his video game/Satam counterpart and he's now tasked to go back to Earth and find Shadow. After waking up Shadow, is where they can play the origin for Maria and Gerald Robotnik. When Sonic meets again, that's where Sonic can begin calling Robotnik, Dr. Eggman because of his new egg-like physique. During the movie, Dr. Eggman Ivo Robotnik can finally use Sonic's blue hedgehog quill to create Metal Sonic. It can all play out just like a Superman movie where Lex Luther takes the kryptonite or Superman's DNA to create his own mutation. In this case it's Robotnik using the quill to create Metal Sonic. But that's just my idea.

Metal Sonic theory: Metal Sonic appears when everyone is fighting on the ARK (In the white and black look) he gets defeated. Sonic and Shadow team up to take down Robotnik (Shadow's still Sonics enemy BTW). Robotnik dies in the end.. when Metal Sonic finds out he gets infuriated and seeks revange. He gets himself the good old metallic blue we all love in the secret ending.
