Seems to be the original key and it does seem as though he could lower it a little bit because we already know he can sing beautifully. But as the voice ages it becomes a little more difficult to sing as high... I think this was definitely at the top of his register.

basically, he didnt abused his vocal chords. unlike axl rose, bon jovi and many more. watch how richard marx sing it throughout the years, even his videos in 90's up to date, he doesnt open his mouth that wide. you asking how he get that exact note even if he doesbt open his mouth? his microphone always at max level, also watch how far his mouth to the mic when he goes to higher notes. hes doing this for decades and mastered it

@@shaunekaw.9414 - You need to get your capacity for comprehension tested. Firstly, it's a SONG, not a lifestyle guide. FWIW the singer was momentarily questioning the future of a relationship that is made difficult by distance, before pledging his commitment to his girl. Richard was married to that girl for 25 years, not a lifetime but a pretty good stretch. Nothinh 'hypocritical' unless he somehow had a crystal ball when he wrote the song. You really should consider that head wobble.
