I think anyone who would be able to see imperfections in the pipework, or the model in general, would agree that they enhance the model rather than detract, helping it look less like a combination of 3D printed parts and more like a precisely drafted study model that might have been seen in the offices of H&W back in the day.

Hi Garry, cheers for this. I think there will be enough equipment around those pipes to hide most of the obvious floors. And as you say a little bit of imperfection probably helps! Thanks for the comment, it’s appreciated, particularly when I’m not sure how good the work is!

@@TheModelBoatGuy I think it's safe to say that your work is top notch, given the number of comments and likes. But as the project is yours, you're the most harsh critic. Any bits you think may need improvement are so miniscule that they probably scale well to the variations of the real ship

With all the aftermarket replacements this kit has to offer, I'm surprised this 'annoyance' hasn't been spotted and rectified by some third party. Great attempt and helps the mind settle when you carry fourth and rectify...oh, that sounds good enough for a tea towel, t-shirt and mug!

Yeah I agree it’s a bit of a pain really, you’d have thought China 3D would have been desperate to fix it themselves. Maybe not!

Man, I really like your videos and I don't want to put down at all, but I think this is not your best work. You are really good and that's one of the things that keep me coming back for all these videos. I'd just suggest you give it another go at this. With all the knowleage you gathered you'll be able to do something much better that will make you proud of yourself =D.

Your fix was the same as mine. I seem to recall that this “issue” was identified a long time ago and brought to the attention of Gene’s group and China 3-D. However, I think they responded poorly to the observation and they just quashed the complainers rather than create a solution. I think the reason no one has created a fix, though, is because the China funnels are accurate and so is the fan above the engineering space aft of funnel 3. But something isn’t right with the engineering space….or maybe the fan is the issue. Regardless, a proper fix will require reworking that whole assembly. No one wants to do that. One of the early flaws with the China parts, is they were created to be accurate. But not necessarily work directly with the inaccurate kit. But I think what you did is totally acceptable. Because every day I look at this kit, I never notice those pipes.

Hi there, Sounds like I'm a little late to the party on this one! I was completely unaware of the issue till I looked at the pipes last week. It sounds like an odd thing for China 3D to dig their heels in about really, you'd have thought the simple solution would be for them to supply the total length of pipe run. I agree that there is a bit of an issue with the engineering space on third funnel, things don't quite seem to tessellate there at all. As you say, the pipes are not all that noticeable anyway, and one lifeboats, rigging etc is in place they will be even less so. Its reassuring you did the same fix! Hope all is good with you? I just want to say you do a awesome job with this model kit your videos will help me do this model one day it's a bit much for my budget I do have 2 1/350 model of titanic an lusitania I would Like to see done a good friend of mine did models but sadly he passed away I been looking for some one to do the kits for me what can I do if u can please get with me thank u can't wait for the next video u up load happy 2023

You'd think China 3d would have offered a solution by printing the correctly spaced pipework running to the tank room roof. I'm hoping the do before I get to that point! What you have done looks good though👍

Yeah I have to say I was slightly surprised they didn’t tbh, it would have removed the whole issue completely. I have made the recommendation to them so maybe they will correct it 🙂

Hi Rob, I think you could fiddle about with the pipe layout for ages with little to gain really. By the time that you get the funnel rigging done and the boat davit up and running any little annoyance will be insignificant. I will have to change the pipework layout a bit anyway as it was slightly different for my model. That's why I chose plain funnels. Brass pipework may have proved a little more of a struggle to get right so well done for getting a good result. Regards JH ⚓ Email half done!

Contact China 3D and ask them to make the rest of the pipeline. I’m surprised China 3D didn’t see this problem and address it when they designed the funnels. 😮

I have done now! Although Mid west models messaged me and apparently this issue was flagged a long time ago, and no action has been taken, so I wouldn’t hold your breath! Seems a bit of a shame that China 3D haven’t corrected this, as it’s going to be a pretty obvious issue on most peoples models

I think you made the best of a bad situation. Do think it's a bit weird that China 3d Set didn't come with the full set of pipes. Kind of a ding on them, if you ask me.

Yeah I agree it's a bit disappointing. Why not just supply the whole length of pipe? For what its worth I quite enjoy that problem solving modelling, but the result would have been far better with a full run of 3D printed pipework!
