Yes, the RC hobby is exactly like this. As the aircraft 'scale-up' they become more stable and easier to fly but more expensive and complex to build and maintain. KZbin is brimming with videos of hobbyists who have spent perhaps well over a year building an exacting giant scale replica only to crash them within minutes of take-off or destroy them in a botched landing. The small models are fairly cheap but twitchy and crash easily. The hobby is a hole you pour money into but sometimes you can find a budget level that you can afford and stick to.

This made me laugh. I know how the man feels at the end. My mates all started buying rc choppers and it quickly turned into a comp just as in this vid. They all quit rc helicopters though after i managed to get a kalt space baron as they knew they couldn't compete with it. Best part of this vid is when the man in his high vis jacket turns around, and you see British on the back as Concorde flies over. Its still the best airliner ever. Rip Concorde.
