I have a copy of the last few minutes of the last broadcast. It's difficult to listen to - memories of days long gone. Good health to all who remember Radio Luxembourg in the dark hours.

Radio Luxembourg, English version, by Tor Endresen. A tribute to the chanel that said good bye in 1992. Night after night with the radio under my pillow. Listening to songs that forever will be a part of me..... (Don't remember more of the English version.)

Europe's and the UK's BEST Pan-European radio station. 1933-1992 RIP. Killed off by a money hungry CLT who could see no reason for keeping it going. Firstly by getting rid of 208 metres / 1440 kHz MW 29th December 1991, then relying on Astra Satellite relay across Europe and the United Kingdom and via Shortwave to Canada on a 50 kW SW transmitter in the 19 metre band using 15350 kHz. In September of 1992 the Compagnie Luxembourg De Telediffusione (CLT) decided that Radio Luxembourg delivered by satellite and shortwave was a waste of resources so set a date of 30th December 1992 to close it. Don't even get me started on the Digital Radio Mondiale disaster of Classic Rock Luxembourg because that was even worse - lack of receivers, frequent technical problems with the transmitters and poor reception etc dogged the station's rebirth.

This must be around mid 1978. The program is obviously made for Swedish audience in some way. At this time the Swedish government monopoly radio was transforming heavily but commercial radio was still not allowed until 1993. Some modern popular music radio was made possible before 1993 but was financed by private donations etc. This is why this program was made. Many listeners in Sweden was asking for commercial radio but had to resort to stations like Radio Luxemburg and so did I.
