I grew up with Radio Luxembourg and listening to this incredibly brilliant voice and I still get goose bumps when i hear him. My old 208-Luxy-Tapes for me are like a piece of gold. Thank you for all the happy memories, Mr. Bob Stewart. Peace, where ever you are.

Sad to hear of Bob's passing. Whenever I think of my years in LUX and Radio Luxembourg, my thoughts always turned to Bob. He had a wonderful voice for radio. I first listened to RTL when in the army stationed in Wurzburg, West Germany, 73-75. Then went on to work in Luxembourg 75-81. I must admit, when I first met Bob, my brain had a difficult time matching that resonating voice with the person I saw. I liked Bob a lot. He was always friendly and a good guy when we got together. Thanks for all the great memories, Bob. Rest in Peace.

Jeez BOB STEWART!! He was my absolute favourite DJ on Luxy with a voice like silk!! Played awesome music and for me the voice of Radio Luxembourg

That 1,200,000 watts modulated the ionosphere - the "Luxembourg Effect" - causing the station's music to be heard in the background of some other stations whose sky wave reflected off the same bit of ionosphere. Especially when Bob Stewart was on air!

A title truly and well deserved; The Great 208! The real Radio GaGa. Friend to so many through teenage nights. Fortunate enough to have listened. Never the likes again. Bob Stewart was my favourite. That great sign off jingle at 3am.

From 1984 to1987 I religiously listened luxy's top40 every Sunday night from Estonia (part of the former USSR). It was the only source of western rock music available for me at these days. I didn't speak English, but I still somehow kept notes. Learned about music, learned English and enjoyed the show. I'm truly grateful for you all there, million thanks!!!

The Wonderful Voice of Bob Stewart. Thanks for posting, PA. Much appreciated. "...and this is the radio we listen to Laser on." "We're just making a video of Master Control, if that's alright with you? " "No." :-) Don't forget, PA can now be heard every Saturday at 9am on Radio Caroline, via the Eutelsat 28A satellite (formerly known as Eurobird 1) and online.

Brakuje mi tych lat dlatego z nostalgio i tesknoto wspominam je . Pozdrawiam bardzo Bob ciebie i bardzo pozdrawiam Petera Antony to tez taki sam mily i cieply glos ktorego bardzo milo wspominam . Jeszcze byl tez jeden spiker ktorego pamietam a ktorego juz zapomnialem imienia i nazwiska ale mial tez wspanialy glos spikera od piosenek . Oprucz niego pamietam jeszcze ta Pania spikerke ktorej tez zapomnialem imienia i nazwiska ale ona tez zapowiadala cieplo i milo fajne piosenki .

No says the man in master control ! Video gives you the feeling that in the later days, the English service was a thorn in the side to the others in the building.

The funny thing is he spoke with an American west coat accent on radio but was actually born in Liverpool apparently when he worked at radio Caroline the bosses thought nobody would be able to understand his thick scouse accent so they told him to speak the way he eventually did and the legendary voice was born great DJ 😁😁😁

очень мало пацанов слушали радио Люксембург, я фанат, с 1976 года, как дед подарил радио Вега, так с приемником и спал. Особенно в 9 вечером хит парад слушал получасовой, и в конце - КВИ _ ИТАЛИЯ.

So this is where the magic came from serving the UK and the whole of Europe every night on 208 metres / 1440 kHz MW at an omnidirectional power of 1,200,000 watts (NOT 1.3 million watts as falsely stated in the opening and closedown announcements) and to the whole of Planet Earth on 49.26 metres 6090 kHz Shortwave at 500 kW.
