Hi Greg, Thanks again for your dedication to the “Art of the Bass” (not deal)lol. I always admired Bruce Thomas for adding so much movement and interesting lines to Elvis’s songs. This was the song that got the band fired from SNL on 12/17/77 by Lorne Michael (another great Canadian!). It turned out to be a god business move for Elvis and help launch his career in the America. Thanks again!

Hi Dennis, thanks for the comment :) I learned of this story while I was learning this song. I like Elvis' rebel, anti-establishment attitude. I liked how his band was able to go right into without missing a beat...good band!

08-25-23: SNL went from anti-establishment/rebel posing (1975) to Lorne Michaels preening and playing the grand seigneur of the media establishment (1990s) on out to, finally, the absentee-management, WGAF 30 Rock-Cigar Store Indian (2000s). Ugh. The Parade of Spent Volcanos continues...
