@@RJM1011 Well...Putin just moved Nukes into Belarus, so Welcome back to the 1980s. Again. 😁 Now in many of the southern states, We don't have basements. The water table is an issue. It's times like this I miss having a basement. The more I hear about this Putin fellow, the less I care for him.

@@snickle1980 You can still have an above ground shelter and cover it maybe talk to my friend Ron at Atlas Shelters ?? My shooting range here in the UK is going to double as a fall out shelter due to the thickness of concrete I have to use for it under UK laws on building indoor shooting ranges. Thank you

@@RJM1011 Thank _You_ . I still have a ways to go, catching up with the very basics, but that's good to keep in mind. It looks like both of our countries are going on another long adventure and it's great to have you with us as always. We've made a good team over the past 100 years. 😐By the way...Can we have David Mitchell? We'll trade you an aging Carrot Top, and three M1A2 Abrams .

Hey folks, not trying to be a party pooper but the longevity of the isotopes produced by thermonuclear warheads precludes any chance of survival. The statement that the fallout would only cover a small portion of the landmass isn't true. Modern thermonuclear warheads will loft the nuclides well over 100,000 feet in just a couple of minutes. Prevailing winds eventually spread them worldwide. There are isotopes produced that will remain dangerous for over 200,000 years. That's why we don't maintain fallout shelters anymore. Nuclear physicists have known this for decades but it isn't talked about much. The information isn't classified or anything like that, but there isn't any point in discussing universal armageddon. Shelters for the leaders are only there to ensure that they will have time to launch a counter attack.

Movies like this oh actually good thing for everyone because with the conflicts that are bad to happen sooner than later A lot of people have forgotten the old ways of doing things. We don't have all the shelters that they had during the Cold war if a nuclear war happened right now there's going to be a lot of dead

It's not the fallout itself that "gets through"-it's the radiation from the fallout. And your irradiated canned peas are no more radioactive than a pre-blast can of peas. The difference is that the radiation from fall out can affect the biological processes that keep you alive.
