Kevin calls it celloboxing. It's his celloboxing of Julie-O that Scott saw on youtube that made him want Kevin for Pentatonix.

Lindsey is known as "The dancing violinist", and yeah, she does it live too. I'll recommend watching her original piece. "The Arena" - it's absolutely stunning.

Your comment about Avi being like the dad was spot on. The whole group has said the same thing in several interviews, they also compared Kevin to acting in the role of mom.

I have a thing in mind for a while and today it fits your comments. On of their best songs for me is "run to you" there is a beautiful video and almost more important, touching and beautiful live performance from a concert last year. There were protesters outside yelling anti-gay paroles and other shit. How about a comparison of both? I look the live-link up and post it below.

I remember seeing the whole concert uploaded. It shows Scott's tears, and, because of seeing that, I was SO grateful for the episode of PTXperience showing them backstage after the next song ended.. and the Super Fam Group Hug prompted by Scott's overloaded emotions from both the 2 days of protesters and then how they had truly connected deeply as a group when they sang, with protesters in the background, their best live performance of that beautiful, DEEP song ever.. and the whole thing got Scott.. and the group was so touched by how much respect the concert-goers gave Scott by instantly going so silent when asked to that you "could hear a pin drop" for the song. (everybody has to be quiet as they only have one mic on the ground or on a stool, and they take their "ears" out and stand in a semi circle, singing old-school acapella style. That audience got SO silent for them... so they could hear each other.) Unfortunately the protesters could be heard.. but that audience was steadfast and silent out of respect. No wonder Scott was in tears. I love how the 3 outspoken Christian group members don't have an ounce of malice or hate in their hearts 💕 just concern and Love for Scott and Mitch. I'm glad PTXperience showed us that group hug and that Scott was OK after seeing Scott crying so many tears onstage after the performance .. that the "Fam" (group) were there with hearts full of love for their friend.

I love Lindsey Stirling! I was able to see her in concert a few years ago and she knows how to put on a show! My favorite songs by her are "Transcendence" (the one where the three of them are on a street corner just rocking out at midnight is my favorite) and "Song of the Caged Bird", a song she created from Maya Angelou's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". I think the video for "Roundtable Rival" or when she performed "Master of Tides" in a fountain are my favorites. With PTX or Lindsey, you can't go wrong!

Yes! Scott is like a Jack of all trades when it comes to signing. You asked about more pentatonix with Lindsey Stirling, they did one more song together for the cover song "Papaoutai". Just if you're interested. Great reaction btw. 😃👍🏼 So glad you did some "behind the scenes" Videos. The "Can't hold us" music video also has a behind the scenes video. Also if you feel you are running out of PTX things to react to, (I know they have a bunch of stuff, but still, the day will come one day) they have behind the scenes of their concert tours, I would suggest having a look at PTXperience.

At the time of this collaboration in early 2013, Lindsey Stirling was a better known KZbin star than Pentatonix. That's probably why more people watched this video on her channel than on PTX's channel, especially when featured on various pop-culture and entertainment websites and blogs. It isn't even her most viewed video though; it ranks as #3. For PTX, the combined view count of 232 million places it at #4 or #5. Lindsey won her first award (a Streamy Award for choreography) in Feb 2013. The Radioactive collab would go on to win a KZbin music award in Nov 2013 - her second award and PTX's first.

I had been watching PTX for a few years and my dad (he plays strings) tells me one day "You **have** to see this violinist!! She's amazing, doing all these crazy dance moves WHILE PLAYING. She's a trained dancer and violinist!! Cool songs too!" And I was like, "yeah dad... she collab'd with Pentatonix. And those cool songs...those are video game themes." I don't know whether he was more deflated by me discovering her first or the cool songs being from video games!

So, fun fact, Lindsey Stirling auditioned for America's Got Talent in 2010. The judges thought that she was "very talented" but that they couldn't see that talent being turned into a full show. Then, in 2017, she competed on Dancing with the Stars and finished second. In her final freestyle (the most personalized dance for each finalist with no rules) she actually played while doing both ballroom and hip hop dancing, all at the same time. This was four years before she did Dancing, and had no formal training.

You really get to see how they prepare for tours, what the behind the scenes looks like on their tours, what they do in their free time, and get to know them. They are really great. Oh, and there is a behind the scenes video that is a lot of fun also. :o) Kevin's ability to beatbox and play cello (called celloboxing) is what got the trio's eye when they were creating Pentatonix. Lindsey studied dancing first and then violin. She then wanted to meld then together. So, she gave it a shot. She made it through the auditions and first round, I think, but in the next round she tried to up her game gand it did not go well. Piers Morgan didn't think she could do what she wanted to.do. thanked her for her time on AGT and wished her well. She was sad, but she had only just started adding her ballet/dance moves to her playing shortly before doing AGT. She came back to the show in the next season as a special guest, showing how much she had grown and also to shove it down Piers throat. I think he told her to give up one or the other cause would not be able to do both very well.

I am pretty positive the audio and video is NOT recorded live as you see this video. The voices and instruments are done separately in studio so as to be able to Properly mix the song in post production. and it allows overdubbing the beat-box with the instruments.This is not taking anything away from the group. Non acapella groups do it to a very large degree while acapella groups use only enough to reach the production goals. for example Kevin most likely will not play cello in a live event, or if he does the beat-box is a background recording (OR someone else does beat-box as he plays) this is a minor thing. When recording music videos they do full song recordings many times with various camera focuses. Ie in take one they do Kevin, in #2 avi, etc... not sure in which order they did this one, but suspect they recorded the song in studio THEN made the video with the song playing as a guide.
@armastat
@armastat 2 жыл бұрын
@@timgrant1219 No need to use a ridiculous example. I might not have been clear, but my point was that They do Minimal Overdubbing or rework. They can and do play their music live and it sounds almost as good as as their produced work, but they DO make minimal changes between live and video. And they do polish their production videos as needed. One thing I will point out is you CANNOT get studio quality recordings outdoors, except in rare circumstances. example. In many cases the video u have (the camera angle or Take) does not work for you esthetic wise (ie., person is turning away rather than toward camera, so u reverse it). Also in order to make a video you have to do the whole video dozens of times, recording each one (usually with multiple camera angles). Example, 'close ups' vs 'long shots' (you don't see the close up camera in the long shot, right? that is because its not the same take). You can see that example in many of Lindsey's video. Regardless of my (again) minor comment on their production process. I clearly think they are super talented and a joy to hear live, recorded, in or out of studio. [My personal opinion is that they are Aliens from another planet that came here to show us humans how it is really done]
@armastat
@armastat 2 жыл бұрын
@@timgrant1219 I didn't use any ridiculous example, you did. 'Tell the close up camera to get out of the way?' You didn't think that through did you. lol. Like what? everyone freezes in position while that happens? If nothing else you just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have no real idea how these things are done. They do a minimum of two takes (depends on what they want and how many cameras they have) one for close ups and one for long shots. But in reality they do more than two. IE, if they want close ups of each member in a 5 member band they do FIVE takes or they use 5 cameras. the long shot is ALWAYS done without close in cameras. Your idea of them being told to get out of the way is NEVER done when filming long shots. If your going to Troll at least give it some thought before hand.
@armastat
@armastat 2 жыл бұрын
@@timgrant1219 That would be one shoot. a each of the abc then def u mentioned is a take. if u do abc twice then that is two takes, I used it correctly. Lindsey's behind th scene videos are real good about not showing playing the violin while being filmed. But this one shows her doing the pedestal shoot while playing. This scene was done multiple times for various reasons, one was they had to redo it because it was unstable and the take got messed up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXiTZKN5ntWNnLc Here is how they do a simple music video. You record the music First (studio or whatever), it is done at microphones as a group just standing around. You then go out on location and do whatever it is you are going to do in the studio, taking as many angles as you think you need. the actors in video play, move, whatever as music is played through a speaker system. (the music may also be recorded on the video as a sync reference. In the case of Lindsey she may even be playing the music on the violin correctly in the scene, but it is not recorded for later inclusion in the video. In the editing later you lay down the music track and then sync your chosen video shots to the music track. Many times you choose a video clip to go where it was not actually recorded in the song track because it just looks good. If you have ever played a stringed instrument (like the violin) you can tell in many of her videos that she is not playing the notes you are actually hearing. This is a curse of having music experience, but also having production and editing experience you ignore it as irrelevant, because you know why it is that way, and instead you just enjoy the video, And then remind yourself to never mention it in a youtube comments section again, because others who don't have the experience, will nitpick you to death.

@@timgrant1219 Apparently you lost the plot somewhere, the topic is Pentatonix NOT Lindsey Stirling. But even so your wrong or at the least confused. The music is already arraigned and laid out BEFORE they do their videos. How do you expect them to design the video if they have not recorded the song already? You don't write the song to match the video, you design the video to match the song. IF Lindsey told you, your not remembering it correctly in regards which comes first. Yes she may play the violin live while she does it (the sound pickup is possible with an instrument) but it is still in many pieces that have to be edited together. BUT like I have pointed out before THE ORIGINAL COMMENT WAS ABOUT PENTATONIX. Geez dude get with the script

Sorry but I just noticed you explaining that French Canadians don't get along with English speaking Canadians. Ah yes we Americans did notice that despite our own crazy politics. 🙂 Love Roy Dupuis forced me back into my high school French again for alot of his work.
