The DB25-D actually does have a VFO mode. It's not easy to find, but it's there. It's under "Local Settings" then "DisplayMode." I believe you can also program a button to toggle VFO.

Ok. Figured out how to do the code plug, except no audio out of the speaker. Green light comes on and shows signal strength but no audio. Audio when I turn it off and on and with manual entries however. Ugh. I did something wrong somewhere...I'll keep looking. Enjoyed the video though. Keep it up.

Just got the radio and I’m trying to get the analog going first before looking into the digital. I can get the channel on FM and set the frequency to hear my local repeater but I can’t transmit to it. I’m thinking that’s because of the offset -06 but I can’t figure out how to adjust the offset in the menu. Can anyone help?

I have been using this radio for several weeks (purchased on pre-order). The CPS has some bugs, but once I figured out the workarounds, this radio is working well in my vehicle. The analog receive sensitivity is good, but the front end gets overloaded easily. There are several things they got right with this radio, like the ability to adjust memory pl/dcs with 1 button. I have not used the GPS functions. For the money (and size), this is a good dmr/analog radio and I'm happy with the purchase.

Great video, Jason. My copy is at about 15W...close enough to 20W, and I'm not sure about the meter accuracy, so there's also that. For a small DMR mobile radio, this radio is worth the price! 73 de N2MXX

VFO!!!! Going off the RT73, and the Radioddity DB25-D CPS allows you to do so, you can assign one of your Programmable Buttons to switch between your Memory & VFO. You can also go into the Radio's Manu Section, and chose how the speakers work as well, so you can have the Radio Face Speaker, Mic Speaker or Radio/Mic Speaker Activated.

Thanks for the video. I've been playing around with my radio and so I have a few answers. The audio output can be directed to the mike speaker or the radio speaker or both. in the menus, go to the Appendix and select HandMic& Spk. You can import the RadioID database to the radio in the Ham Contacts tab. You have to use the Write contacts in the tab, not the in the header of the CPS to write the dB to the radio. Takes about 45 minutes. However, I don't see how to show other than the DMR ID on the display so I'm not sure how the radio uses the dB. I'd be interested if you find out how to display more info when a contact is received.

The HAM Contact is your WW User Data Base list. Import the WW Data base then Write it to the Radio Storage. It dose take about 40min to write the full list to the RT73, so take it will be about similar time to the Radioddity DB25-D.

Ordered one from Radioddity a couple of days ago. There are no DMR repeaters in the central MS area but there are in the northern part of the state. One friend is considering putting one up so I hope he does. Looks like they have made a number of changes in the firmware so I am looking forward to setting up and using the radio. I just subscribed to your channel, I like your content - you know what you are talking about. I am an old school CB radio user. I got the GMRS license, (WRQE496). I just bought the Radioddity DB25-D radio and should get it tomorrow from Amazon. I have no clue on setting this device up. Can you direct me to a place to get help with programming. I am not new to computers, I was a network administrator back in the late 90's to early 2000's, but times have changed. I live in Fort Worth Texas, but plan on traveling over the North Western part of the states. I just came back from fly fishing Northern New Mexico, but with their monsoon season it put a huge damper on fishing. (Bolders were falling off the mountian tops from the flash floods), it was close to my camp. Anyways, what adivce can you give me on programming/using/setting up this radio. Nice channel.

@@HamRadio2 I have a longer beard, but it looks bad. Anyways, I setup the unit in my car - it fits nice between the left seat and console. Not sure how the heat transfer will be, the system has a very tiny fan. I downloaded the software for this system from Radioddity and and soon as you run it, (Im running windows 10 or 11) it has an error message some file is missing. If you right click on the progam, (in the extracted folder) the only progam you can run, (choose run as Administrator) and the progam opens with a connection error. You can see the program with all possible changes. I did not have the unit hooked up at the time, so I belive that is what was going on. Ham Radio 2.0, if you have users not able to connect to the software on a default screen setting, make sure they right click on the application and choose (run as administrator). My laptop is fully charged and I am heading to the car to update the settings according to minibeard! LOL I love to have fun. BRB

Future video idea for all your gear reviews...These video are good for a brief walk around to get some general info on the gear. I would like to see what is your experience, likes, dislikes and overall thoughts after using it daily for some time. As you know after your use a radio for a few weeks you know if it will be a goto rig or not.

I must say, Radioddity is poor at helping you find features in their radios. I asked them about APRS radios just before Xmas 2021 and they never pointed out this radio to me. That cable/chip thing is a Windows issue. I have not seen it using Linux!

I have just purchased a TYT MD-UV 380 I have the correct program in my pc . Here is the problem when I open the program plug in the usb cable first to the pc then to the radio then turn on the radio (is my prosses) I hear the pc ding so I know it recognize the cable then I go to read the radio to the program I get a error message check to make sure the usb cable is pugged in .What can I do to fix this .... oh the radio is new Ken WQ9V

Speaker mike could be a help. After a hurricane in Harris Co, ARES was assisting Harris Health on a CASPER. Some of us were shadows in County cars. For a quick deploy, a speaker mike could come in handy.

Most DMR radios do not have VFO, and DMR is a commercial standard, and therefore a "business radio"

On Analog side VHF 14.2 wats and 12.1 on UHF into motorola service monitor. The radio came with a cigarette lighter plug cable. The radio will only reboot if I key up high power on VHF or UHF. I have noticed simalar issues on DMR side when It keys up.

Need to provide the radio with a better power source than the cigarette lighter plug. I had the same issue until I direct wired the radio to the truck.

Correct, I mentioned that in the video. But it was full of bugs until Radioddity got ahold of it, cleaned out most of the bugs, and upgraded several features on it. Now the original KYD model has followed suit.
