Anthony, just FYI, I use a Triband (VHF/UHF/6 M) yaesu VX-5r that is unlocked on all freqs for emerg transmission, but in addition it receives NOAA, AM, FM, Shortwave, Airband, and analog TV signal. Yaesu has "tougher" built radios that do the same but I've had this rig for a long time, know how to use it, have backup batteries for it, and have extra antennas (slim Jim and others with Tigre tail) and small solar panels charging it. 73 from NOVA. BTW, get on AR15.com and look at the ham radio section. Lots of good guys there!

It is so important to have a radio for emergencies. Wherever you live, there are emergencies. Disasters of all types and sizes. Power outages, Internet interruptions, etc: Make sure you have a working Radio, with fresh batteries ( and NEVER store them in the radio)‼️

This was posted in 2015. A good update should be in order. The Sony is no longer available (except for a price) . The replacement: Sony ICF-P26. A fine radio, some upgrades, but doesn’t have the reception that this) MK-2). Eton has had a drop in quality, but these are okay, however, in this price range, there are better radios. KAITO makes [crank] Emergency Radios in every category $15.oo - $100.oo The Kaito KA-500 is a major favorite by many reviewers. Both Kaito, and [ most ] Tecsun radios have Warranty service, and Tech. Help here in the U.S. ( Kaito.u.s. Com). (( for a great [standard] AM/FM pocket radio, I like my Tecsun R-233, “Long Range”, But they have others) The Kaito KA-210, is a well liked pocket radio with NOAA weather Band ( no Alert) . The mini-pocket RETEKESS PR15 is a fantastic little radio. Excellent reception, am/fm/weather band, is ultra small, ultra light. Sangean, C.Crane, Running Snail,And iRonsnow, also make Emergency Radios. Sangean, And C.Crane are known for their High Quality radios. There are tons and tons of other radios on the market. These I mention, I know are higher quality than almost all the other radios ( I’m a collector, and Short Wave listener, AM DXer, so I know a little bit). The point is, LOOK AT THE REVIEWS. See which ones have the features YOU want/ need. But HAVE a radio, at least for emergencies‼️‼️ (📻🙂).
