Such a poor show these days. Re-cycled ideas by the same old writers. The show needs a loooooong pause and then needs to be rebooted by a completely new showrunner who isn't afraid to go in a new direction.

Moffet coming back is a win after the trash RTD has threw out the door of late......but the damage done by Chibnall with The Timeless child is still impacting Who and RTD doubling down on that has not helped at all, and even now into 2025 no 3rd season has still not been confirmed, even though they are now down to just 8 episodes a year, i mean whst a mess.

Apart from the actual Timeless Child concept which is the Doctor being the origin of regeneration, which I completely get not liking, there’s nothing wrong with everything else that was revealed, which was all based on previously established ideas anyway. The concept of Pre-Hartnell incarnations is as old as regeneration, in The Power of the Daleks in 1966, there was a cut line where the newly regenerated Second Doctor took out a ring and said that he wore it the last time he was renewed, and while that was cut, Steven Moffat pointed out that the Second Doctor behaved as if he’d gone through the regenerative process before and wasn’t something new, so that idea of it not being the first time remained in that story through the performance and the way that the Doctor was acting, and was properly confirmed in The Brain of Morbius (those 8 faces weren’t Morbius as he says “back, back to your beginning” to the Doctor as they appear, plus the producer of that story said they were Pre-Hartnell Doctors) and then built on in the 7th Doctor’s era. The Doctor being a Time Lord pioneer originates from what the First Doctor said in the second ever story The Daleks, when he told the Thals that he was a pioneer once amongst his own people, which was expanded upon throughout the 7th Doctor’s era with the references that the Doctor had been involved in the creation of Time Lord society with Rassilon and Omega. The Doctor being an adoptee and foundling not originally from Gallifrey builds on the fact that the Doctor has always been an adoptee coded character. They are still a Gallifreyan because when the Doctor was adopted by Tecteun and brought to Gallifrey, they gained a Gallifreyan/Shobogan identity, and are still a Time Lord because the Doctor became a Time Lord just like every other Shobogan who did. The Doctor being the origin of regeneration can be down to the Toymaker, but all of those other concepts don’t need to be because they fit with the Doctor’s character and canon of the show.

Yeah, my interest level in S2/15 has gone from indifference to actually looking forward to it, and that’s completely down to Moffat’s involvement. And yeah, I’d not be bothered in the slightest if the Timeless Child got retconned. Same with Galifrey being destroyed again, tbh.

@@welshie2002the main issue with the timeless child arc is it was done for all the wrong reasons, Chibnall didn’t have a plan and did nothing with it , an ego trip just to retcon DEI into the doctors past life’s , that said I really like Jo Martin’s fugitive doctor, I’d rather watch her than Jodie or Ncuti , a more fitting successor to Capaldi’s GOAT 12th doctor

Oh, come on, if you're going to try and mock the show and criticise it for any perceived wokeness rather than acknowledge the real reason for the lack of quality (which is NOT diversity but rather simply poor writing, which isn't even the case with a decent chunk of the episodes imo), you can at least do more than just stick the latest buzzword in the title of the show

I was optimistic about the new RTD era. Unfortunately, I have been left deeply disappointed. The Christmas special was OK but really didn't enjoy the overly rushed series.
