I have a genuine question- if your from North Shields are you considered from Newcastle? Or South Shields considered from Sunderland. Just asking - I think North West side if you’re from Stockport and you said you’re from Manchester it would be laughed at

@@brabbit3389 North Shields I would just say Newcastle but it’s north Tyneside really , but Newcastle is the closest big city and really it isn’t far, because North Shields is just a seaside town. South Shields is close to Sunderland and some people have a bit of a Mackem twang, so South Shields I would say Sunderland. A lot of people say Newcastle if they’re from there though, because not as many people know Sunderland but know newcastle. But yeah most people go by which city is closest. I think if somebody said they’re from South Shields to someone who isn’t local they wouldn’t understand , so they’d just say Newcastle. But if somebody from Sunderland was to say they are from Newcastle there would be riots 🤣🤣
