I do agree I don't think that we could even begin to understand Barry's pain, he spent their entire life with them growing up, working, touring, for most of his life they were always by his side and now he is alone. I know he has family and friends around him to help but when you lose a lifelong companion or multiple as he has it's even harder to continue moving forward without them

You've just entered into a rabbit hole - and it's DEEP, my Friend... These three Musical Geniuses gave us close to 50 years of Pure Magic - and Sir Barry Gibb (the guy in the middle, doing lead vocals on this track...) is still going strong, his latest release "Greenfields" (Jan. 2021...) another Masterpiece. "STAYIN' LIVE", "JIVE TALKING", "FANNY BE TENDER" (WITH MY LOVE), "NIGHTS ON BROADWAY", "I STARTED A JOKE", "ONE", "NIGHT FEVER", "LIVING EYES", "MASSACHUSETTS", "ALONE", and "FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS" are but a few of their tracks... The brothers started harmonizing (and composing...) at the ages of 6 (twins Robin & Maurice...) and 9 (Barry...) - not knowing anything about how to read musical notes and scales.

My favorite group! They also wrote hit songs for other people. All three of them could sing lead. Gorgeous 3 part harmonies, being brothers made it sound so good. Barry or Robin usually sang lead. Sometimes they sang lead together and it sounded like one voice. Maurice had a beautiful voice too. He did sing lead on some songs. But usually left lead to Barry and Robin. Maurice could play many instruments, he was very talented. They wrote so many great songs!

The Brothers Gibb ...... Professionally known as 'The Bee Gees.' They wrote ALL of their songs! Born on the Isle of Man to English parents, the Gibb brothers lived in England, then moved to Australia. (1) Maurice - pronounced Morris (on the right-short hair ) While on his way to surgery for his intestines, he had a heart attack, yet the doctors operated anyway. (I heard Barry say this on a video.) He was in the hospital for a few days! Maurice passed in 2003, at the age of 53. (2) Robin (on the left-long hair) passed in 2012 from cancer, at the age of 62. He and Barry complimented each other with their voices. Robin and Maurice were fraternal twins. (3) Andy, (not pictured) the youngest brother, had his own successful career. He passed in 1988, at the age of 30, from inflammation of the muscles around his heart. He and Barry could had passed as twins, even though he was 12 yrs younger than Barry. The 3 brothers were also married and had children. (4) Barry (in the middle) said, "I am the last man standing." Barry is the eldest of the brothers. On September 1, 2021, he and his wife, Linda will celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary, which is also Barry's 75th birthday. They have 5 adult children, and 7 grandchildren (some reports say 8.) The Bee Gees have sold over 220 million records worldwide (probably more by now.) They were also writers for other musical artists. On several videos, Barry and Maurice said they liked R & B music. He liked the sounds of the lead singers of the Stylistics and the Delfonics. Also Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons, and the Beach Boys. Their father, also a musician, liked the music of the Mills Brothers. On a side note, their sister, Lesley is the first born. She was 76, January, 2021. She lives a quiet life with her family. She is the 'Queen Bee.' The proceeds from that song was given to UNICEF. Listen to: Staying Alive (you'll like the beginning strut) --- How Deep Is Your Love ----- You Win Again --- Emotion (a song written for Samantha Sang) Destiny's Child covered 'Emotion. Their version has too much drama. -- You Should Be Dancing: (silver outfits) Their brother Andy joins them on stage to sing this song. Closer Than Close (sang by Maurice: my absolute favorite!) --- ONE --- Our Love (Don't Throw It All Away) The The horns, violins, their beautiful voices and harmony! ❌Sex ❌Drugs ❌Profanity ❌Nudity 💯Harmony 💯Love

@dortheychastain21953 жыл бұрын
It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats.This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean.

Super reaction!1 So detailed and full and ON POINT! Welcome to the rabbit hole of the Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees)-- sublime music! Meet the tallest, eldest brother Barry. The other two are fraternal twins, Robin taller, with more hair than his twin Maurice (pronounced "Morris"). Robin and Barry take turns with leads. Barry has the ethereal falsetto, although all three bros do falsetto. Robin's voice is the most unique. You'll find out eventually Maurice is a genius at keyboard/piano/Guitar and supplying the all-important third harmony. There is a youngest brother 9 years younger than the twins-- Andy Gibb, who had a solo career, also super successful. Baryy and an older sister are the only ones surviving today -- Barry is 74, married over 50 years, with 5 children, lives in Miami Florida, dual citizen of US and UK. . Leslie lives in Australia with 8 children

They hardly pay attention to the sounds of the musical instruments being played and what's worse, the lyrics. One of the saddest things that a person can do is not pay attention to the words of a very beautiful love song that is being played. Every single aspect of a song is important. Especially the part that tells you what is going on , what is happening and what one's going through.But anyway young man, you were asking of another song sung by the Bee Gees. Well how about "How deep is your love"? In the movie "Saturday Night Fever" that was released December the 14th, 1977. You know with John Travolta and all of them. The Disco Era. They played a lot of songs sung by the Bee Gees. Oh well, thanks again.

Brothers Gibb.. you should add a clip of when they were kids singing... Andy Gibb the younger brother had a high voice similar to the older brother's voice... He died first.. then the other 2 died.. leaving oldest... I honestly don't know if there were any other siblings.. but the harmonies are a lifetime made. My fav video is staying alive with John Trovolta doing the "WALK" in the movie.

What's amazing is they said they were fans of 2 groups (from Philadelphia, PA) whose lead singers had falsetto voices. The Stylistics and the Delfonics. They also liked the voice of Frankie Vallie, lead singer of the Four Seasons. Frankie Vallie sang 'Grease Is The Word.' I'm quite sure there are groups who came before the lead singers of the Philly groups. Each generation adds a bit more style and uniqueness to the falsetto voice.

@@brendawilson8208 - Hi Brenda. If you go back to the 50's there were a lot of great "doo wop" groups and they employed falsetto too, the Cadillacs, Clovers, Diamonds and a favorite of mine, The Coasters with their funny lyrics. I loved Frankie Lymon too. Even some of the singers in the 30's and 40's! The Bee Gees were also big fans of the Mills Brothers! The Bee Gees didn't see race when they loved someone's music. Unfortunately a lot of the backlash against their R&B (incorrectly labelled "disco") era was not necessarily against them but bigoted backlash against the disco craze that was so dominant that it became an overly commercialized joke and that type of music that was predominately played in black and gay clubs. It must be EVIL!!!! LOL. In addition, if someone is amazingly successful and ubiquitous, there will be haters who have to knock them down. They never understood what hit them or why. As Robin said, you can dance to all types of music but that doesn't make it "disco". Cheers. :)

Try "Fanny be tender with my love" by them, they have umpteen songs from the 60's onwards, they also wrote songs for other artists. I've been in love with their music since being a kid. They were born on the Isle of Man, the family moved to Manchester UK, then moved to Australia while still kids, The Bee Gees consisted of Barry eldest brother, then the twins Robin and Maurice (pronounced Morris), they also had a younger brother Andy who had a solo career. Just Barry left now unfortunately.

I am sooo pleased you have found the beegees. I'm glad you want to hear more from them as they have a massive catalogue. I'm sure someone has already said this but just in case..... Barry Gibb was the guy in the middle and the oldest brother with Robin on the left and Maurice on the right who were paternal twins. There was a much younger brother called Andy who had s solo career but appeared with the brothers Gibb (beegees) as well. They all had perfect pitch and great falsetto voices and all of them led in various tracks. There are some very old b&w films of them when they first started out. The oldest 3 were born on the Isle of Man which is part of the UK but moved to Australia. Sadly only Barry is still with us and I think I'm right in saying he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The brothers gave the rights to the track you played to UNICEF. They write hundreds of songs for themselves but also loads of other artists as well. I better stop now but not without saying please react to Fanny be Tender with my Love and You Win Again, two of my favourites.

The Bee Gees aka The Brothers Gibb, (yes they are all brothers). The brothers Barry, Robin, Maurice, had a younger brother Andy, who had a solo career. The two brother who sang on the left/right of the lead singer, were twins. The two twin brothers are now deceased, and well as their younger brother Andy. The ONLY brother living today is the older brother/Barry, who is the lead singer, in this particular video. PLEASE react to "you win again", and "Fanny be tender, with my heart" ❤. What's interesting is there were 4 sons and one daughter (the first born, Lesley.) Sir Barry has 4 sons, one daughter. I have seen videos of the ladies getting teary-eyes. The men saying, "WOW!" One brother said, "I'm having this song at my wedding!" Back in January, 2021, Barry released a CD with called 'The Gibb Brothers Songbook: Vol 1.' On Amazon, it sold out in 1 week (I've read other reports that said 2 weeks.) Other singers sang their classics, and they were allowed to chose what songs they wanted to sing. It has a country music sound. You can listen to it on Spotify. It took me a year to listen to their catalogue of songs, videos, interviews, family videos from when they were babies, the family laying Robin to rest. I didn't see Maurice's funeral. I just know he was cremated. They were good friends with Michael Jackson. Just sooooooo much to learn, and just love them all the more. Let me end here. I could go on and on about them. 🧡

If you have ever the heard the song Staying Alive...or You Should be Dancing.... you've heard of the Beegees. They wrote all their own songs and even wrote #1 songs and alums for other artists. Check out their music.... they're the greatest band ever in my opinion. Their career spanned over 50 years....they started singing for audiences from the ages of 6 for Robin and Maurice and 9 for Barry. They all played multiple instruments and as I said wrote all of the own songs yet they couldn't read or write music...it was all by ear. Maurice plays the bass guitar and other guitars and the keyboard in the group and arranges some of the drum beats,. Barry plays guitar in the group and Robin sings but he can play instruments as well. Their you get brother Andy played guitar . They are all brothers.... Andy Gibb was the youngest and had a solo career and was going to join his brothers but sadly passed away 5 days after his 39
