So last summer i bought an 05 RX8 site unseen. Took a flight from my home town (p.g., b.c.) to north vancouver (1.5ish hr flight). I get to this guys house and she (Marilyn the car) is all i expected. Rebuilt with about 40,000km on it and lookin great. Nice rims, big wang 🤘, and a mint interior (arm rest wasnt even broken). Spent the night in a hotel and took a huge leap of faith first thing in the morning. I started a 9-10 hr drive back home in the middle of a smokin hot summer with an "unreliable" car i knew nothing about. She did amazing (8hrs🤷🏻♂️). I spent 3 months enjoying the hell out of her and then the snow started to fly. Unfortunately this meant she had to be parked. So she spent the winter parked in my back yard under her nice new cover, hooked up too the tender. Occasionally i would go out to say hi, warm her up and clear her Throat 🥰. In the last week before the snow was totally gone i came to have our normal visit with her. except this visit was not normal. She fired up beautifully and ran normal for almost 25 minutes. Once she had been at temp for a good while (because stock gauges are bunk) i gave her some braps 🤤😇. Little more idle then i gave one more brap to shut her down. But i didnt get to shut her down... She quit.... and would not return to life. Still turn and compresses as far as i can hear (havent tested). Plan is to pull plugs and start the checklist. 🤞🏻 hope its not a rebuild 😆. I knew this was coming so this isnt an unreliability gripe. Just story time. Love the cars and the trials they take you through. I DO WISH REBUILD KITS WERE CHEAPER THO 🤔✌🏻

Started an '83 (178K miles) that had been abandoned for 15 years in Yosemite with a can of aerosol starting fluid. Keep a can of starting fluid in your bag of tricks! Get the engine idling long enough to start cleaning out varnish etc. Sold that RX7, and new owner, who was an idiot, drove it home 30 miles at dusk, without working lights (harness was destroyed) and untested brakes .... and tires that I had to dig out of the ground that wouldn't hold air. I had done nothing with fluids other than top off the oil because it leaked out of a void in the iron. I assume he made it home alive.

i worked in a mazda dealer 6 yr word on many 1st gen first thing we did crank it over if it sounds like no compression pour transmission fluid down the carb about a pint sometimes apex seals will lose commpression and not seal when it starts it will smoke like heck and may start and run form now on most have less than 150k on them they were fun and easy to work on also this is the long way to to figure out the no start problem thanks for the good vid
