On one hand I agree. On the other hand; I was thrown off by how this episode starts; with Aron seemingly recovering from laughing from something and then going into the video topic. Maybe he did that on purpose? I dunno! I'm gonna stop typing now as I think I made my point and I'm just ram................

I think Sheckler used to do them, even in contest runs. I think a reason why they aren't popular besides the reasons you mentioned is that they seem kind of gimmicky. Like yeah they can look cool and take skill, but they're also kind of like a random video game circus trick, and skaters can be snobs so maybe that's why they didn't catch on.
@JohnDoe-zq1ho4 жыл бұрын
You nailed with that last reason, 100%. You’ll still see some random clips of some park wizard kid doing a random fly-out backflip in an instagram montage. I’m telling you, Instagram is shite but it’s caused an explosion in insane tricks.

@2.56 second trick. On a more important note, Its incredibly refreshing to listen to a clearly well educated skateboarder talk about the sport and not just another illiterate skater who grunts and acts too cool for existence. Keep up the amazing work, whenever i see your videos in my feed i always know I’m in for a treat. Big love from Scotland

We're not the most educated part of the society... Actually I don't know any skateboarder with a university degree
@bobbyrussell907 жыл бұрын
Has a University degree and is well spoken....Can't coordinate his body with simple Physics. Intelligent people lack something more simple people do, that is the ability not to overthink things and it is actually a skill to able to simplify a complicated task, if your a smart person you usually play out all probable outcomes before doing anything, this messes with their commitment, thus making them less rad on a skateboard.

Just a note here. In '79 Mark Lake was doing Lake flips, which is a backflip to fakie where he puts his front hand on the coping to guide himself back into the ramp. Sort of in-between a miller flip and a backflip. This episode of Jeff Grosso's Loveletters to Skateboarding has one 6 minutes and 15 seconds in. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpndgomil9d0ndk

I dont think thrasher neccesareily tries to pick the absolute best skateboarder wvery year so much as a solid skater who made yhe MOST impact on skateboarding. Its usually someone who puts out a really good video part or two, gets solid commercial exposure , inteeviews and lots of footage overall.
@derekperc7 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I'd call it "best skateboarding performance while maintaining Thrasher's image of a skater". I add in that second part because Sheckler and Nyjah could never get it no matter what tricks they did.

Just want to drop a plug for the old school snakeboarders / 'streetboarders' who do lots of body flip tricks. If you haven't seen them, these boards are kind of like a skateboard with footstraps. Gabi Muñoz has done a double backflip and a backflip to 50-50. Max Anderson did a 720 misty flip down stairs. Brinton Gunderson did rodeo 900s. Pretty crazy stuff - look it up!

Sluggo is a gun at gymnastics and he's small, you basically have to be a gymnast to be able to do one like sluggo does, snowboarders usually do it like a side barrel roll
@miniramptricks19867 жыл бұрын
the back barrel roll wont be done on a skateboard because to do it u have to push your hips out straight away off the jump to initiate the spin and without the board strapped to your feet it will be impossible
