I'm sure you're prolly directing this question more to JC, but I'll tell you that I've tried this and I have caught redfish, black drum and sheep's head with blue crab parts. 🐟🎣💯

I just started looking for blue crab without much luck. I don't have a kayak so I'm stuck trying to find them from shore. I'm in Sarasota and I see some promising spots when I'm out and about. Ill come back and it's like they all disappeared LOL. I want to find a place I can scoop them up like you are and also spots to use my baited crab nets. Maybe I'm trying at the wrong times.

You might consider researching how much untreated waste poured into Sarasota Bay from tropical storm Debbie flooding. I personally wouldn't eat Blue Crab from that area.
