In this video, I will take my newly bought boxy classic SUV with 4x4 and locking differentials, to my mechanic Tom Huerta to get him to do a full inspection on it. If the list isn't too long abd expensive, I will fix this 1997 Infiniti QX4.

@@radridesbyehsanshirazi8779 They are. With proper routine maintenance you can easily get well over 200-250k miles.

Just bought a '97 myself with 154k miles for only $1,400. I think I got a good deal. Nothing major wrong with it except a/c not working and needs alignment and passenger window motor.

I actually just bought the same year model here in Texas, only 154K miles, and only paid $1,400 for it LOL They wanted $1,800 but it needed an alignment and the a/c is out. Actually, I think you're wrong about the lack of engine power. I've had mine for less than a week and it runs like a friggin scalded dog. I have accidentally barked the tires more than once when needing to accelerate quickly, and it has zero problems with get up and go. And like yours, I'm shocked at how many of the switches still work on this thing. All the door locks and back hatch buttons still work, all the windows except one work, the moon roof still works but only opens half way, and electronic 4x4 control switch works, the actual fan/environmental controls still work (blend door actuator seems to be out), but even the windshield wipers and washer motor still works on this thing! It was either babied all its life or this is one tough SUV, because I looked at other used SUVs half this one's age that had a shit ton more wrong with them than this one. I fortunately don't have the common problem with the rear control arms yet. Mine is steady as a rock at 90mph, though the power steering is a little loose. So far, I think I've made a good deal if I can get out with the alignment and a/c fixed without too much cost. But I do all my own work.

Is yours a 3.5litre or 3.3litre?

Hey how’s it going? I wanted to Ask if one of these SUVs are worth it as I have a friend looking to buy one for $1000. Currently has 260k miles which I was skeptical about and why I am asking on it here? Would appreciate it if you could respond. Thanks!

@d.dankey1168 hello, I love mine. I've changed a few things on it but they were due to wear and tear. I've put 19K miles on it so far and will be putting more on it. They're solid and were made during the time that Nissan was a reliable Japanese automaker.

The 3.3 isn't fast but is very reliable...I have the updated 3.5 vq in my 03 and that runs really nice😊

@alpha7ization I know. It has been reliable do far. I wished that I had the 3.5litre one though 😁

That engine has a timing belt as opposed to the timing chain on the 3.5vq...you would be smart to change it at that milage to avoid any issues.

@johnshockley7921 I already knew that important detail, and my mechanic Tom will be replacing it this Saturday or next. Timing belt snapping can be very costly 🤦🏻
