Great memories of my childhood years at Binbrook, 82-87, wish i'd been a lot older to enjoy the golden years of a fantastic aircraft.

It`s a shame we did`nt have video cameras with the quality that we are used to now.

I'm just loving these videos. They bring back so many memories for me up at crash gate 3 and the landing lights. I spent some of the best and happiest days of my life as a teen in the 80's up their and on the base with 195 squadron air cadets Grimsby. If only they could invent a time machine because this is definitely where i would go back to. Thanks so much for sharing.

My 1st visit was around March 1987. And that was just to get some video for my Lightning obsessed mate. Then after the air show. Our gang of around 4 of us, went regulary to the end of the Lightnings. It`s a shame it did`nt become a Tornado base. As we would have still carried on visiting there. As we made a lot of mates there, and it was good area for viewing. Our local was RAF Church Fenton. So only a training base at the time.

Never been to (former) RAF Binbrook in person at all, but seeing it today in some videos, it is hard to believe it was once a busy Lightning station.

On this video, you can see the drive from Crash Gate 3 to Crash Gate 2. Then to the end of the runway. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e32VeGN5iMxnY7c
