@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Right now, I haven't purchased any games. I'm mostly interested in the Eastern Front of WWII because it's got personal ties and it's what I know best. For now, I'm just trying to see as many games as possible so I can make an educated decision before I buy. I think, as someone new to war gaming, it's important to get the right game as a first game. Anyway, I'm caught up on your RAF videos and will be looking through your library to find more that interest me. Keep up the good work!

At this early stage of the game, it doesn't make much sense to have 3/10 squadrons patrolling in their OWN sector. They can patrol in an adjacent sector, so it makes sense to place them in 1/10 and 4/10 Patrolling, because Ports and Radar are Level 3 Targets, and Patrolling in those sectors increases the chance of 3/10 squadron participation. IF the airfield in 3/10 is targeted, the 1/10 and 4/10 sectors where the 3/10 squadrons are patrolling is "En Route," so they can intercept anyway.

I'm seriously considering picking up the latest version of RAF... I have one ambiguity which I would appreciate clearing up... during the actual battle... squadrons which have been reduced in A/C strength due to heavy losses/attrition would often fight at reduced strength and in extreme cases would be pulled from operations and relocated North until reinforcements brought it back up to full compliment. Is this not reflected in this latest version? Also are Green reinforcement pilots reflected in reduced squadron effectiveness.... and after a few operations combat experience would bring the squadron up to par?

Hi James - to be honest, I can't remember the rules as it's been over 2 years since I played it. The rules are available online at decision games if that's of help.

When there is no time advance, you return straight to the first step of Raids (Raid Target Determination, card #7). You do not get to do the German Fighter Turnaround, Squadron Turnaround, Advance Warning, or (not that it ended up mattering) Squadron Patrol Assignment until there is a clock update. Because of this, you usually want to setup a few patrolling fighters even in areas not on the 1 or 2 cards you can see.

@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer Do Stuka Joe’s cards print out at a different size across the pond? I ordered the 63x88 size sleeves printed out the deck and cut out the first one and what? It’s too big. DOH! The cards print out at 70x 98mm here. Now I need to order bigger sleeves. Anyways thanks for these play thru’s. Had the game for a while but never played. Your vids helped explain and show the step by step process.
