Agreed! The small thing which is the “icing on the cake”, for me, is the lineswoman’s quick conformation of Nadal’s amazing final shot 🥳🥳🥳 (let’s be honest we all thought “was that in” and she just erased the doubt...)

Love how he extends his hand sometimes after returning an impossible shot and winning the point like « excuse-me, that must be tough for you »
@FoMiAl5 ай бұрын
The reason he extended his hand is to say sorry because some of these winners were actually lucky (not intended) shots. Obviously he intended to return the ball and he made an incredible run to reach it, but in some cases it was a winner by luck (he didn't have a control on the quality of the return).

not only is Nadal impossible as a retriever, but his coach obviously taught him " it is not enuf to hit it back, you must also hit a winner. why waste all that effort ?" that is a great change in mentality. Federer had that too. in my era it was just the idea of a " save " and than the hope the other would miss-hit, choke or not hit a good enuf shot you could still get to it.

that is the reason Nadal had many injured
@terrenceolivido7414 ай бұрын
when Rafael went pro at 18 or so he was beating Federer almost right away. at that point Federer was absolutely like young Mike Tyson. players were afraid to play him. no one on the tour expected to beat Federer except by an exceptional moment. they hoped to finish the match with the least humiliation. ... a fact. so, how-the-heck did Nadal beat Federer? it was his retrieving. Federer would hit a forehand before and .... it was gone - end of point. all of a sudden some of those were coming back and Federer was literally psychologically upset. Nadal maintained a psychological advantage over Federer for perhaps 8 years.
