Agreed, I'm more of a Novak fan, but Rafa is the GOAT to me because nobody can make one shot and just totally change from defense to offense like he does, his wins at the Australian and US Open are amazing, considering his dominance on clay.

As a Nadal fan, I did not see any chances for him to come back after 2-0. I myself almost stopped watching the match due to lack of faith. However, when he took the match to 2-1, and then, 2-2, i started to believe in a miracle. I still remembered my feeling when watching him on the 5th set. I was so nervous and worried for Nadal for every single points. To me, Nadal is now much more for simply a legendary tennis player. The way he was fighting with difficulties is so inspired.
@radilev19962 жыл бұрын
It was tough because he was better since the start of the 2nd set. Didn't win that and at 0-2 it was hard to believe. I kept watching, cuz the match was good apart from the one sided result. With time Nadal found his rhythm and the rest is history.

I watched the game again just now. There should be anymore nervousness anymore because the outcome is already but I was still the butterfly in my stomach. The nerves and drama emanating from the game is still there. The guts and determination exhibited by both players make it a heart-wrenching show. As Rafa’s fan I still couldn’t forget Rafa’s 5-set loss to Djokovic in AO 2012. Djokovic’s tearing of his shirt in celebration was completely a disrespectful act. It was from this time that I started to dislike him. Rafa would have never resorted to such an act. Rafa is a gem of a person on and off the court. Tennis will never be the same without him.

As an East coast American, I woke up at 3am for this match. (I think it was 3am). by 5ish, Nadal had lost the second set in a tiebreak. I turned off the TV and threw the remote into our couch and went to bed. I set an alarm every hour to check the score. by 6am Nadal won the 3rd set. Around 7 I woke up and he had won the 4th set. Sometime after 8am I woke up to Nadal having match point in the 5th. This match exemplifies everything great about the sport, and about Nadal. After his comeback in 2017, no one should have ever doubted his drive to compete at the highest level.

Great job on the video. As Daniil said “ Rafa raised his level of play”and refused to give in.His passing shots and volleys were phenomenal. The shot down the line in the third set to win the game was just perfect.I’ve run out of words to describe this man’s skill. I can’t think of any athlete ever who has the will/ mental strength/ tenacity and pure class of Rafael Nadal. His achievements and the manner in which he achieved them will be read/ talked about for generations. And his manners and respect of his sport just put him alone at the top. My imagination keeps repeating itself thinking “ what if he was never injured?” Phenominadal is a perfect made up word that kind of sums it up. This makes up for 2012 and it’s in my top 3 of best sports events I’ve ever seen. Got up at 2:30 a.m. in 2012 and was crushed when he missed that shot in the 7th game of the 5th and then the match. The French should be interesting and even his fellow pros predict he will win. Again, how can anyone accurately describe him. We, as tennis fans have been blessed with the 3 greatest players and tennis never seen before. Thank you Mr. Nadal !

@@nogoodnameleft probably take a few weeks before he’s really ready. His history shows he comes back stronger after injuries. I would love to see him play Novak in the finals and be at 100%. In his almost 20 year career he’s never lost 2 matches in a row on clay. If healthy I predict a performance similar to his destruction of Stan W. In the 2017 French final. When he’s motivated, similar to 2020 crushing of Djokovic in French final, Novak had beaten him in straight sets at the 2018 AO final, and healthy he’s unbeatable at Roland Garros. The man is a phenom !

Rafa on a roll here. Unstoppable at the moment. 15 straight wins (only 2 shy of third best of all time) to start a season on a Hard Court. Unbeaten till now. 3 trophies (Aussie Open, Melbourne Open, Acapulco Open) already in the bag this year. If he is healthy he will win many titles this season. Next Gen stars are still not good enough to beat him on hard courts regularly so beating Rafa on clay and grass is nearly an impossible task for them. I think this and the 2019 USO F are more entertaining than Wimbledon 2008 F. Wimbledon 2008 F (which is still a great match, btw) should have been over in an easy straight sets for Rafa when Rafa had 0-40 and three break points on Roger's serve at 3-3 in the 3rd set after he won the first two sets 6-4, 6-4. He panicked and let Roger back in the match and almost stupidly lost that match. The 2019 USO F is the greatest USO F in history. If Medvedev had won that final (same in 2022 AO F) just imagine all the circlejerking to Medvedev by everybody now. Now all Federer and Djokovic fans hate Medvedev because he can't beat Nadal in hard court slam finals hahaha.

Of all his slam matches I've seen only the 2008 Wimbledon final with Roger and the FO 2013 SF with Djokovic was this tight in the 5th set. This was such an incredibly close match though from sets 1-5. Unreal. I think the most important slam win of Rafa's career by far to break Rogers record and also to win all slams twice.
