That can also apply in 2011 when Djokovic beat Nadal in 2 back to back clay masters finals, and then Federer beat Djokovic at RG, who then lost to Nadal in the final who had lost the last 2 matches to Djokovic on clay who lost to Federer in the semi final and then lost to Nadal in the final to the player that beat the player that had Nadal’s number that year who lost to Federer. For all those saying that Nadal was injured in 09 though, he wasn’t, Nadal was perfectly healthy, Soderling was just the better player that day. Even the greats lost on their best surfaces throughout their careers, they were never invincible, but this was a good bounce back from Nadal though to avenge his loss from the previous year.
