this was a top 5 1h backhand performances against nadal, lol.

didn't let him down, WITH his backhand he showed how to beat (neutralize) the Nadal advantage over all single handed backhanders in cross court exchanges to Nadal's forehand. Roger watched, you could say Grigor 'schooled' Roger on how to end Nadal's crushing tactic against the Fed bckhnd. In the final, no matter how high the Raffa frhnd bounced up into Roger's bckhnd, he almost never sliced. Dimitrov showed what could be successfully done time and time again successfully over 5 sets. What Dimitrov DID with his backhand IS what gave him a very real opportunity to win.

@@Italo-j5c all absolutely true, I agree. Initially I was questioning comments about Dimitrov’s backhand. Whatever has kept him from being the equal of the then top three, I doubt it’s his b’hand or any particular stroke. During the reign of Fed, Nad and Jok, one of my fav alt contests was Wawrinka v Djokovic - esp 2013, 2014 Oz Open and 2015 French Open Final. (have those 3 in cloud if anyone wants the link)
