Hey guys, glad you checked out my new video. In this project I focused on the four years between 2010 and 2013 which included an (at least mostly) healthy Rafa and the time when Novak became NOVAK. Even though I am a HUGE fan of Rafa's, the 2011 season of Djokovic is still the most impressive tennis season I have ever seen. Simply because Rafa didn't drop his level from 2010. He still was in all of the finals, but lost to Novak everytime. The priority to me were the epic Grand Slam battles between them, so I neglected some of their matches on ATP level, also to keep the length of the video consumable. Otherwise this would have ended up an hour long documentary again. You can watch what happened to Rafa after the US Open 2013 HERE: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rF6ydJ-hes6jmNk As always, feedback is appreciated! Let me know which is your favorite match between these two during this time. I hope you enjoy the video!

The us open 2011, aus open 2012 to me were the peak as both players were near the top of the game then, after that I think both, specially djokovic changed his game primarily to offensive defense, upto 2013, I think he still took every opportunity presented to put the point away with a winner, but after regular losses in finals frm 2012-2014 french open period, he changed his game to cut on unforced errors and outlasting and outmanouevering his oppenents instead of the breathtaking display of tennis he produced in 2011

USO 2011 was the highest level of tennis I've ever watched between 2 players. The break point saved by Novak in 3rd, is my favourite of all time ( when Djokovic gets the backhand down the line, and finishes with arms in cross,then Nadal's father aplauses once again when he sees the camera is on him lol ).

It was mostly because Djoker had a poor 2010. Nadal started 2011 with 12450 points to Djokovic's 6240 (almost half). After Madrid 2010, Nadal was standing at 12470 points. Federer's win in French 2011 SF prevented Djoker from becoming number one with a difference of only 45 points. Nadal was destined to sweep 2011 but for Djokovic.After Aus open, he played 7 finals (including and upto Wimbledon), won 3 but lost all other 4 to Djoker.

Nick Kyrgios is 2-0 vs Djokovic and Dustin Brown is 2-0 vs Nadal. Does that mean they are better players? Styles make fights and Nadal always was a bad matchup for Federer. That, however, doesn't excuse Federers losses to Djokovic. Doesn't Federer still have over 100+ weeks at number 1 over the Spaniard? Doesn't Federer have 6 WTF's to Nadals 0? The Swiss also has more titles overall. As it stands, Djokovic is #1, Federer is #2 and Nadal #3. Granted Nadal still has time on his side to be the #2.

@@viksinha5410 "Surely you know that it's different when two players face each other 40+ times" There is truth to that. You, however, left out one very important point in regards to their head to head. Federer leads on grass (3-1) and indoor hard court (5-1). Nadal leads on clay (14-2) and outdoor hard court (8-6). In other words, Federer has faced Nadal 30 times on the Spaniards favored conditions(clay and slow hard), whereas Nadal has only faced Federer 10 times in the Swisses favored conditions(grass and indoor). That is a 3:1 advantage for Nadal and needs to be taken into account. In other words, Federer was good enough to keep facing Nadal in his kingdom, whereas Nadal failed to reach Fed as many times in his kingdoms(WTF's and Wimbledon). That's why the head to head is a bit skewed imo. It's too bad that we never got to see both of them face each other at the USO.

It wasn't only against Nadal that Djokovic struggled in 2010. I think he's made a racket change early in the year? His serve was off. At RG he lost in the quarters to Jurgen Melzer, of all people, altho Melzer was having his best year. Djovovic's volley and drop shots were terrible, he had some allergies/breathing problems. By the USO, absloutely no one was tipping him even to make the final. He came very close to going out to Troicki in the first round. I don't think he even made the semi finals at the WTF that year. He had a problem with a contact lens during his rr match with Rafa. I have no idea how he managed to play at all. Then he went gluten free and bang! He became unbeatable. At least that was his story at the time. Probably more to it than that, but who knows? Maybe some Djoko fans have more details. Oh, yea, Rafa's improved serve, the one that won him the USO in 2010 went missing, pretty much in the middle of the IW final. He never did recover that.

@@thexcookieman1842 "Nadal has a positive head to head against Djokovic at the biggest(hard tennis event)...he has more USO titles than [the] hardcourt king" Last time I checked, the AO is a grandslam and just as big of a hardcourt event as the USO. Nadal is 0-2 vs Djokovic and trails the Serb 1-9 in titles. Yes, Nadal has beat Djokovic twice on the USO hardcourt, but never in Novaks kingdom at the AO. In contrast, Nole has beat the king of clay twice in his kingdom at Roland Garros. I'd take that any day. You're living too much in the past. Djokovic is well ahead of Nadal now in the goat race and statistics back it up. Djokovic has had his share of bad luck at the USO. His 2017 withdrawal and 2019 loss due to injury had something to do with Nadal picking up another couple titles there. As long as Djokovic is not injured or fatigued, he should beat Nadal this time around.

From Monte Carlo 2012 to the US Open 2013, Nadal was 6-1 against Djokovic with 2 of those wins being on hard courts. After 2011 he began to figure Djokovic. However in 2014 Nadal started to slump and had some injuries as well as appendicitis late in the year. Then in 2015 and 2016 Nadal hit rock bottom and Djokovic got the better of him. Since 2017 Nadal remained dominant against Djokovic on clay with a record of 6-1. However they have only played 3 non clay court matches since then: 2018 Wimbledon, 2019 AO final, 2021 ATP Cup. Djokovic won the 2 hard court matches in straight sets and Djokovic edged out Nadal in the last non tiebreak fifth set ever played in a major.

I’d be interested to know if Novak thought he could ever beat nadal after 2010 US Open final. Seems like a big turning point for 2011 to come.
@rafanatic223 жыл бұрын
I think the turning point was the Davis Cup final 2010. Starting with that, he went on a streak and never lost until JUNE 2011 at the French Open.

Hey Zoran! I chose these four years because it was the two of them who ended up as Number 1 during those years and they battled back and forth for the number 1 spot. Djokovic is GOAT (this is fact,results say that,for now),but Nadal is second best player of all time for me.....much better from Federer,cos he won 12 GS with relativiti weaknes generation before Nadal and Nole step on big stage.....sorry again and grat video was this only i understand later.....all best 👍🤝

@@zorankostur It's close, but it goes Djokovic #1, Federer #2 and Nadal #3 at this moment. Don't forget that Federer has 100+ weeks at number 1 and 6 World Tour Finals to 0 over Nadal. Nadal, however, has a great opportunity to at least get to number 2. And enough with that weak era bs. All three of them have won slams in weaker patches, so I don't think that is fair to use that against just one of them.
@zorankostur3 жыл бұрын
@@jacobschmidt2709 thats two categories,still i will say again all that weeks was before this two guys,only better is in world tour finals....in everything Nadal is better.....Nadal leading the overall head-to-head 24-16 and in finals 14-10. ... Federer leads on grass (3-1) and indoor hard court (5-1). Nadal leads on clay (14-2) and outdoor hard court (8-6)......and i wont mention that when Nadal won his first GS,Federer have 5.....so when you better and realistic look their h2h you must admit that Nadal is better player than him..... P.S. i wont mention rivaliti against Djole and who give much more troubles on court....and Nadal couple times won matc against Nole in fourt set with 7-6 or he will break on 6-5 for 7-5.....so he is much more mentality strengh than Fed.(we all know 40:15).....mental strenght 0......Federer is #3

Blinded by emotions, you cannot see properly that DJOKO has the overall top down leading not only over Nadal but over every othe player in open era . He became pro 2 years AFTER Nadal, he`s one year YOUNGER than Nadal, and for woke political correctness he has been banned , disqualified or missing 4 GS (Banned in AO 2022, , USO 22, Disqualification USO 2020, Suspended Wimbledon 2021) . He could easily added 2 or 3 GS based on his unrivaled WIN RATIO . He’s been for years the only player capable of winning all 4 GS in one year (which he missed in 2021). Nadal in the other hand , has never won 3 MAJOR atp titles (Miami, Paris and the Masters). Djoko is the GOAT
