16 years ago today Rafa won his first ever title in Barcelona on 25th April 2005. His ranking jumped from #11 to #7 and he cracked the top ten for the first time in his career. Today on 25th April, 2021 he lifts his 12th title in Barcelona and hasn't dropped out of top 10 since. That's 813 consecutive weeks inside top 10, let that sink in! Despite the highs & lows, he keeps fighting. Win or lose, his never give up attitude is still intact and as his fans that's all we want to see. Vamos 💪🏻🇪🇸🏆

Being 34 years old, the times of being in every tournament final each week are long gone. But when stuff like this happens and I find myself standing in front of the tv with my palms sweaty... that’s when I remember why I love Rafael Nadal so much and why he’s my idol since I was a kid. and luck with the net chord. When Tsitsipas played the forehand on match point he did hesitate a little bit and did not risk too much. @@stevenz2998 Fine margins! The same happened with Fed at Wimbledon 2019. At 8-7 40-15 his first serve just clipped the top of the net & failed to make it in. Novak was having trouble reading Roger's service. Fed was going down the T line whereas Novak was anticipating a wide serve. If you see the replays, you'll see Novak making a move in the other direction. Had that serve been in, it would have been a third consecutive ace to seal the deal for Fed. By a margin of 1-2 cms, Fed missed his 9th Wimbledon & 21st GS title.

If Nadal would have serve just a bit better, the match would have been over quicker. Most of the points of Tsisipas were because of his serve. He went to the net a gazillion times after serving. That is not really a clay strategy but still got him so close to win.

I‘m gonna say it I think they both equally deserved it, they both played equally great and made about the same amount of points in total. The only key point was that mentally Nadal did it just a tad bit better, and in the most important moments he took his chances and somehow managed to take a break in the last minute. Tsitsi would have won if he didn’t get so nervous. But this was one of the beste finals I have ever seen in the last years. Congrats to the king of clay!! And remember, Nadal is just warming up to Roland Garros. I am a Fed fan, but I have to say Nadal is a force of nature on clay, this will probably never be equalled the next 50-100 years from now. Already a true legend, in all of sports.

You could tell after his loss at Monte Carlo and his early struggles in this tournament how bad Nadal wanted this. Well done to both players. I never thought Stefanos had the ceiling to really get to the next level, but Stefanos has made me a believer this year. He's got a very legit shot at Roland Garros if he keeps it up.

Nadal is far from his peak, he still has to gain confidence to play more aggressively and improve his serve. It was the same last year, he lost in Rome but improved for RG and we all know how that ended...

I think this is an extraordinary match, Stefano is playing with significant progress, but it is not enough to beat Rafa, because Rafa plays with an extraordinary Heart, and this is his hometown, Rafa will not want to lose just like that.

Rafa seemed very in form during this match actually. He won cus he played the bigger points better and got a little lucky saving that mp in the 3rd set. This could of easily gone either way and it was Stef's to lose imo. But that's why Nadal is the greatest on clay.

@@maimou Stefanos also got lucky in some points actually, infact Rafa couldve won this in straight sets.Stef played brilliantly to stretch it to the third but Rafa's determination won in the end.

@@littlesunshine2378 Yeah agree with you they both got lucky. I think Rafa’s experience and drive won it for him in the end. But that net cord on mp.. that was very unlucky for Stef.

Unpopular opinion but I think Stefanos should have won this. He was up a break in both of the first two sets and then Rafa got a bit lucky saving that championship point with the net cord.

Yeah Rafa got lucky ,but Tsitsipas also failed to take the first set with advantages ,think about those 5 breakpoints in the first set when he could get a double break .Also the 3 break points at the start of 3th as well.
