RAFEEF ZIADAH is a Canadian-Palestinian spoken word artist and activist. Her debut CD Hadeel is dedicated to Palestinian youth, who still fly kites in the face of F16 bombers, who still remember the names if their villages in Palestine and still hear the sound of Hadeel (cooing of doves) over Gaza.

I'm an USA citizen. I thank Allah that I was born a Black female who grew up Christian then became Muslim. It has blessed me to be able to identify with the world & most importantly to have a healthy skepticism about what the west is capable of because of racism, sexism, oil, modern day apartheid & colonialism. Folks who deny the reality of others' struggles for dignity are blinded by their own bigotry.

Me recuso a ser colono ou soldado israelense" Então, estava deitada no chão quando um cara veio e me deu um chute no estômago dizendo: - Você merece ser estuprada antes de ter seu filho terrorista! Na hora eu não disse nada, mas depois escrevi esse poema para o jovem cavalheiro. (Fala em árabe) Me permitam falar em árabe, antes que ocupem minha língua também Me permitam falar a minha a língua da minha mãe, antes que colonizem a sua memória também Eu sou uma mulher árabe de cor e nós viemos em todos os tons de raiva Tudo o que meu avô sempre quis foi acordar no alvorecer do dia e ver minha avó ajoelhada rezando, numa vila escondida no meio de Yaffah e Haiffa Minha mãe nasceu embaixo de uma oliveira numa terra que dizem não ser mais minha Mas irei atravessar suas barreiras, seus checkpoints, o seu maldito muro do aparthaid e retornar ao meu lar natal. Exactly! I live in Kuwait which is a neighbor country to Saudi Arabia and I know SA well. You're right but the media insist that the American woman have a much happier life than the Saudi one. They didn't even ask Saudi women if they're satisfied or not. I agree there is a number that feels injustice in Saudi especially those who got no man in the house (no father, brother or husband) will be in big trouble. Otherwise, they get most of what they want or need.

I cried! I feel her pain and frustration, I feel her anger at having her land stolen from her, at having her children killed by the Israeli occupiers of a land that has been theirs since time immemorial. There is no question that they where there before the Jews came out of the desert. I have had wonderful Jewish friends and even business partners and never has anyone one of them done anything to hurt me or my family, but I detest Israel and their criminal behavior towards the Palestinians.
