@@cedhtv, well, kind of. It requires you attack with it and you have to be attacking with enough creatures to consistently put 5 counters on it every turn, so when taking lands into account you probably need 7 creatures in play and you can't lose them. Makes it a bit hard, I think.

Compared to Tymma/Sakashima, the net benefit is less, but it loots, has flying and actually a chance at beating. I see it as a tradeoff. Also 3cmc 3 color commanders look clean and flavorful. Hyped for this.

2 cards I have considered in a Raffine deck is Teferi's Ageless Insight and Alhammarret's Archive, but Alhammarret's Archive might be a bit too slow. Really like effects that double up my draw and in Raffines case I'll draw 2 cards per attacking creature and discard only one. Still have my deck on built so will see if I'll play with both or maybe just Teferi's Ageless Insigt. Would love to see so much card draw from just one attack trigger!

Would you consider running Zur in the 99? I was thinking with its flying evasion, it would allow us to fetch things like animate dead and dance of the dead for those reanimation packages.

That is interesting. Yes I could see Zur in the 99 and it would make seans. I don't think he is auto include but he could do some cool stuff for the deck. It is a midrange deck so hes mana cost should be fine too.

I just built a CEDH deck with this. I cut out all the reanimater cards for more card draw creatures/hate bears. it consistently threatens a backed up thassa consult or ad naus on turn 3-4. And if not you can pivot to play long game with interaction and stax and resolve another combo later.

if you attack with 5 it is draw 5 discard 5 cards.

@@cedhtv of course :) with a Serra ascendant it’s draw 6 discard 6 pending on your life total, but I understood that you meant for each creature attacking draw and discard with the winota reference

@@brootal01 my takeaway was that he was referring to Winota play patterns, meaning that you are setting up your board ahead of casting Winota because Winota does not need to attack herself to trigger her ability. In that regard, this deck will play similarly, because you want to run out your board, slam your commander, and get value back immediately.

I am not so sure I would add it to sisay. You can. But I don't think this is something sisay is looking for. It is 3 CMC with 3 colors tho and that is good. Decent value engien. It can go in but nothing sisay alredy have.

No I woulden't. It is lotu petal for the commander. And we don't need to rush the commander into play. It can come into play after you have some creatures in play.

"I get one extra card"... uhh, are you referring to the lack of a partner? The deck thinning that comes from running a partner is universally understood to be a marginal benefit, but a benefit nonetheless. Also consider that Tymna provides card advantage, while Raffine mostly provides card selection (since you will not always be able to discard a card that benefits from being in the graveyard). I do think there's debate to be had, but you have highlighted factors that favor Tymna/shima while talking about Raffine's superiority.

I hate it. I hate that they are hijacking demon as a type and spreading it around to all colors and bizarre type combinations. I hate keywords that aren't intuitive after one or two reads. I hate abilities that encourage bad play to create some kind of drawback (discarding non-land cards). Most of all, I hate that it's almost certainly going to see play. Low cost, great colors, evasion, good blocker, and a clock. I think the only thing that might hold it back is whether Tymna/Sakashima is better, as they seem to be built the same way.
