ok i need to point something out. tortured existence and some cards allow you to actually combo off. is it a good combo? no i don't think so. at least not good enough for cedh. but it is there and it would be hilarious if you pull it off. you need a token doubler, ashnods and that pirate that leaves back a treasure when it dies.

Big creatures feel a bit unnecessary, all the good value creatures that are small turn into a 4/4 zombie, thats really nice for Pollywog Prodigy, Esper Sentinel and even the looters like Kitsa , you can just produce a bunch of 4/4 and win that way, which allows you to play a lot more stax creatures, which you can all turn into 4/4 zombies. So simply a package of good Esper creatures quite smoothly becomes great with this, could just slot into Raffine, or be the commander. Even in Tymna / Thrasios this guy might be really nice, as its so good with Survival of the Fittest (maybe even Greater Good, but thats a bit slow). Turning all your Seedborn Muse / Kinnan and friends into instant speed zombies is pretty nice. Seems like a REALLY amazing card to brew with, as it fits so nicely in many shells and has so much build around potential.

No my main wincon for this deck is ofc a fire brand archer or othasr inst or sorc pinger. Then I play a spell hardly used called return to the past (gives all inst/sorc in the grave flash back) then I go into my mana geyser sithe song combo giving me usually atleast 30 to 40 red mana all while pinging my group of 5 for 1 drawing 4 cards per thing till I can go into a full burn phase. Ether killing them with the burn or my laboratory maniac combo cause I drew my entire deck

I run a 60-card, 5-color Odin deck (& let's be real, this card is obviously inspired by Odin's Wild Hunt) and this is one of my primary win con cards in it. I mostly use sneak attack to get it into play, but also have Prismatic Bridge, Defense of the Heart and some ways to bring things back from the graveyard (which I would only do when I have a way to give this freaking thing HASTE OFC!!!!! WHY NO HASTE?!) Edit: I also can reliably foretell this into play for WWW on the low end, to (3)WWW on the higher end

I built her similar to how Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor was built (cheap & evasive creatures as well as some stuff like Opposition Agent & Voidwalker.) Anyways, I exiled an opponent's Roaming Throne so I cast it & named Rogue as the type. It is pretty much "Lights Out" if you get that to stick because at that point with 3 opponents to attack you are eseentially timewalking them each combat because you end up with 6 untapped treasure tokens & drawn 6 of their cards. Needless to say, I went home and made room for my Roaming Throne that was in a binder.

You need to pay for remora to keep it and easier to counter, while esper is both a creature and a artifact to tutor with Urza's saga or ranger captain of eos. Paying 3 mana sometimes to keep the fish while with esper you can hit people to draw cards with Tymna or reduce Ad naseaum value. Only my opinion.
@cedhtv

You can't search for the esper sentinel with urza's saga Chapter 3 ability because it can only search for artifact with mana value 0 or 1 in its mana cost it doesn't count as colored mana symbol in its cost. And ad naus curve value doesn't change eather because both are 1 mana value cards.

I think the big difference hear is that esper not many people care about. It’s one spell you pay 1. For fish you need a land drop to continue, however I have a good amount of pods where players just stop playing the game until fish is gone which will never happen with esper. So hands down I think fish is better for those reasons most people won’t pay for remora as well to esper they can. I also like to think of it past turn one, if we look at this 4 turns in which one would you take a remora or esper and the answer is always remora. I also hardly see esper countered ever so that also shows the power level difference. I think you would have to see each match and determine if one won because of those specific draws to know truly know but I’m guessing remora.
@cedhtv
@cedhtv 9 күн бұрын
Isen't the fact that people stop playing the game a reason Fish is weaker. On the record I haven't seen that in the games I watched. People tend to cast spells and feed the fish while it is alive. But if it affects your pod to cast less spells then fish draws less and makes it weaker. But I will agree that lategame remora is better then esper.

Yes and no. Let me say this. I don't think tutoring for it turn 4 is a good idea. If you can play it turn 1 that it is awsome regardless. If your alredy mulliganing a lot, then I thin the one ring could be good. But I actully think it might be better to skip the one ring. The games when the one ring have been good from the gameplay videos, there has been synergy. There have been a few wins when people have unqinding clock and the one ring. Or seedborn muse and the one ring.

Stats like this are my favourite part of cEDH. I wonder though, how do stats in KZbin videos which are played for content differ from tournament games where players are competing for real prizes and are more willing to play less cards to play around Mystic/Esper change the win rates. I'd imagine Remora tends to be worse if you're playing fast decks like RogSi but mid-range and control likes like TnK or Tivit are happier sitting on Remora and just playing lands each turn.

@cedhtv

Yes there is. Or kinda. I do write down how often people counterspell value plays. If a force of will is used I currently write down what it counterd, not what card but if it counterd a stax card, value card, combo card, tutor, bordwhipe etc. But I also have data on if the fish sat in play and drew a lot of cards or if it was just casted and drew no cards. So yes but not in a clean way that I can just answer here. But I do play to showcase the force of will part once I have looked into what the data is showing.

I think it would be helpful to separate the scenario where Esper Sentinel is tutored by Ranger-Captain of Eos from situations where it is not. The Ranger-Captain is a very strong card that significantly boosts the win rate. In this case, playing Esper Sentinel doesn't cost you a card from your hand; it's essentially a bonus provided by the Captain, and the winrate is actually Esper Sentinel + Ranger Captain vs Remora. On the other hand, Mystic Remora typically requires you to spend a card from your hand in most cases.

Hello there. You have forgotten to say the biggest difference between esper sentinel and mystic remora in general that drawing a card from esper sentinel isn't optional and can ruin your win with thoracle consultation. Plagon feels like the remake of abdel Adrian candlekeep sage background commander deck. Abdel Adrian is still one of the best budget decks one can build if they want a powerful deck, but it requires an investment of 8 mana in total plus a flicker spell to do the thing. Plagon rewards you for playing some of the best creatures in azorius. It is a good card on its own and only. The floor is 3 mana for a card from the command zone. This sounds meh, but I have noticed that most cedh decks try to draw to their 10th to 15th card to find enough gas to win. So having a draw 1, 2 or even 3 brings you really close to the cars required to win.

A highlighted memory of our group is me crying for about 15 mins with my Hama Pashar deck, only to literally combo in response to an Artherflux Reservoir activation + 2 counter spells on top. If your deck has a lot of activated and/or triggered abilities, winning is easy if you TRULY know your deck and you didn't just borrow your friend's Magda list hoping for people to forfeit after you declare you have 10 treasures without actually knowing the lines.
