Royal regalia - crowns, krises, jewellery, etc. - are symbols of divine kingship. In 1811, the last sultan of the Johor-Riau-Lingga Sultanate passed away - without naming an heir, leading to a crisis of succession.

You keep saying Kingdom of Singapura...when did such a Kingdom exist? There was a small sultanate of Singapura which was quite insignificant. The Kingdoms that existed are the Malacca Kingdom, the Riau Kingdom, the Johor RIau Kingdom and the Johor Kingdom - all of which the island or sultanate of Singapura or Tumasek was small part of.

The so called Kingdom of Singapura is highly debatable and there is no empirical proof that it was a Kingdom. The early Tumasek rulers beginning with the mythical Sang Tri Buana does not make it into a Kingdom. it was merely a small island settlement. It wouldn't have been easily sacked by Majapahit if it was a true Kingdom.

Are the regalia on loan or for here to stay?

Basically the British and Dutch controlled Malaysia and Indonesia from the 1800s up to the mid 20th century. They kept some of the old royals as puppets but the power was in the hands of the Europeans. Singapore is literally a city stat set up as a port town that has settled by and attracted a large number of people from outside Malaysia and the Johor Islands. Most of the treasures you see were taken by the Dutch or British as they conquered the indigenous kingdoms.

Amat menyedihkan dan memalukan, pihak istana bertelingkah, perpaduan dipecahkan, wilayah kesultanan dipecahkan, regalia diraja dirampas, pekong yang busuk ini dipertontonkan orang ramai sebagai sejarah
