The music directors were the employers of the singers. The singers got paid by the music directors, not the producers. The music directors like Anil Biswas, C. Ramachandra, and Salil Chaudhary used to think that they owned the singers. They were sometimes downright insulting to them. It has been reported by reliable sources that Anil Biswas once was so upset with Mukesh that he slapped him in the presence of others. I once saw Salil Chaudhary degrading the singers and musicians in 'Salil Chaudhary Night' in Bombay right at the stage in front of everyone. So, it is not surprising that C. Ramachandra would treat Rafi rudely.

@naveedbasha31 music director only gives job to sigers always. music directors like salil and c ramchandra ke samne rafi pura nalla tha. 67/68 onwards kishore entered as full fledge singer and music directors stopped calling rafi, rafi was almost jobless and rafi's career is spoiled, its fact. before kishore entry 67 rafi sang 90% of his songs and only 10% only after 67/68. now you will understand value of music directors, let them be any category. rafi faught with salil, CRamachandra, anil vishwas, khayyam, op, rd, br chopra, lata asha snd many my friend. its not story, its history and haqiqt. you can refer it my friend. sorry, no personal please.
