They actually paid proper work times, paid for quality replacement parts, and didn't ask me to rewrite estimates to fit their time frame for repairs. Because I was able to get my body guys a little extra time on each repair for them, they loved me and would get my vehicles done a little faster when they could. As a consumer, State Farm is absolutely bottom tier for me. Had a non-fault accident (a driver struck my parked car while I was out of state) which took almost 3 months to resolve because at first State Farm straight up lied to me and told me the vehicle responsible for the incident wasn't covered. And then when pressed with an active insurance report number, they claimed I was the one at fault. When providing GPS data and a police report showing I was out of the state, they told me that police reports aren't "sufficient evidence against our client" and questioned who a third person was (the driver struck my car and proceeded to push it into my neighbors house). After a month of debating who was at fault, they finally accepted liability and then refused to payout because my vehicle was "lost in storage" because they failed to pay the storage fees to have the vehicle estimated. Which then led to another two months of arguing back-and-forth with them over who is responsible for the storage fees. So yeah, never going to speak highly of them ever again.

If both vehicles were moving, the liability decision is significantly more likely to be split. Since you were injured the claim would have been escalated to the injury claim specialists, and if they had any reason to think you were even 1 % liable they need to address that exposure. Which is annoying, but what would also be annoying is if your insurance company didn't get recorded statements from you both and the other driver suddenly starts claiming they sustained injuries and tries to sue you. Injuries are always a complicating factor, and will usually be the deciding factor if your claim is handled by a team level claim associate, or individual claim specialist. The latter of which is going to proceed as if anything information they collect should be expected to be evidence either in subrogation or trial case. Still a right pain in the ass

The State Farm driver then proceeded to continue her turn, looping around, ramping onto the curb, drive over two car lengths down the street while half on the curb, still looping, then swung and crossed FIVE lanes (2 each direction and the center turn lane), hitting my MIL's car hard in the drivers rear quarter enough to push it into the curb and bending the wheel on the back passenger's side at a 45 degree angle. She *claimed* she hit the brake but CLEARLY her foot was on the gas. The other driver (who hit her) had some small insurance company I'd never heard of, but THEY reached out to us within the week and said they were half at fault and appraised her car at a fair amount and cut her a check. State Farm dragged their feet. The adjuster for State Farm, however, never called back when I left messages. Finally I caught him and he said "Oh, I wasn't able to get the police report, can you fax me a copy?" I got the police report, faxed it to the number he provided. He then ghosted me. Several weeks and many phone calls later, I borrowed someone else's phone and called him, and he answered. When I asked what was going on he said "We decided we weren't at fault and aren't paying anything." Because it was damage only, no injury, we were screwed. Not a single lawyer would help because of the low amount involved, and I am sure this jerk knew that. I would never have State Farm insurance.

When he went to insure it with USAA, they found the VIN in their system under my name, so they decided I should pay the insurance too. As an insurance adjuster, who has worked for none of these companies, but on the other side of accidents for all, I’m shocked State Farm is ranked that high. The problem with most of these carriers, is that most of the claims aren’t worked by a single person, but teams, and the individual has to get up to date Every. Single. Time. It’s so frustrating.

Literally every single agent I spoke with in their claims dept said something completely different from the others. About a week after finally being assigned a "claims specialist" the dude went on vacation and I didn't get a new person until the next week. Any time I'd call I'd just get transferred to his voicemail even after explaining that he was on vacation and I needed to speak with someone else. Thankfully my local insurance agent with state farm who has worked with my family for years was super helpful and would sit in on calls with the claims dept multiple times to help smooth out the process. Honestly she's the only reason I'm still with state farm after finally getting through the reconciliation phase.

If you watch his videos, it is very telling that he doesn't give a shit about helping people and is only in it for the money. The sole reason he put State Farm where where he did was because he got a $1.25m settlement from them. Extrapolate this. He hates Allstate because they "offer you a piece of wood, maybe, if you want it." and CHUBBS because he stole an asset that makes him more money (the lawyer). So his motivations are crystal clear. The more money it makes him, the more he'll like it. Which means if two people bring similar cases but one is valued at $300,000 and one is valued at $1.2m, he is going to like the $1.2m case a lot more. From a business perspective that makes sense. If they are similar cases, they should take similar lengths of time, and therefore the ROI is better in the second one. But if he cared about the PEOPLE, as he feigns to do, both cases would be equal.

This reminds me of a personal story. Lol. So my mom works in disaster restoration and regularly negotiates with insurance companies. As I grew up with her in this field, I got a lot of stories and insider info. One day, we were at a partner's company party and I overheard my mom's conversation with one of their employees. Mind, I was maybe 12 at the time. This employee mentioned that he had Allstate and without missing a beat, I spoke up and said, "You are NOT in good hands." OMG, the panic that instantly evolved on this guy's face. Mom, of course, explained, both calming him down and backing up my claim. She explained that most insurance companies will try to pay you as little as possible, Allstate is just one of the worse ones. Some will pay with few to no questions asked, but those are either incredibly expensive or military. I managed to tune out most of the conversation from there though. P.S. My mom still backs up my claim and giggles over it. Meanwhile, I turn beat red.🤦♀️

I worked in a collision centre back in the eighties, and even then, Allstate was the worst. They would demand three estimates, one of which was from the shop expecting to do the work, and then they would only authorise the lowest of the estimates, even if it clearly ignored obvious damage. The repair would go ahead and then drag on for weeks as supplemental work orders would have to be filed and fought over to cover the obvious things that they wouldn’t initially recognise. A repeat offender of ignored repairs was the actual bumper, when the damage to the cover was severe, and surrounding bodywork was also deformed. Panels would be missed, and alignment was another thing that had to be fought for. I guess that alignment isn’t necessary so long as you don’t mind eating tires, brakes, steering and suspension joints and have your car never be able to track straight.

All of the carriers are having hiring problems. As a group, they did a study around 15 years ago to figure out how many people they would need to hire as the Baby Boomers started retiring and population continued to grow, and so they would be able to set recruiting/replacement goals. They figured out as a group they would need 400,000 new adjusters by 2025. Partially due to mass Baby Boomer early retirements during the pandemic, they have not only completely failed to reach that goal, but actually are down somewhere between 100k and 200k adjusters. So auto insurance claims are taking 2x to 4x longer now, (just the insurance co. paperwork side, not including the equally massive increase in shop time) and it isn't getting better soon. The only type of claim that has decreased handling time is claims for under $7,500 that use a "send in phone pictures of the damage" system.

Wish I had switched years ago.

@@robinhuff1867I learned many years ago that outside of personal relationships loyalty is never rewarded but is instead seen as laziness and taken advantage of.

I did shop around and in the end.All state was the better deal and I've had to deal with them on a claim and so far, they've been the best that I can expect an insurance agency to be. Maybe there is better but the odd thing is, I only had one speeding ticket from 2 years prior and was happy with the agency I did have but changed states and had to change agency. The handful of others I looked at we're outrageous over that one ticket. So all state it was. The ticket from the accident is still going through the court system and I am likely to get it dismissed or deferred and once I do, my record should be clean since I am told that speeding tickets only stay on for 3 years and it's been just over 3 now. Hopefully I find a better deal but time will tell.

What would you saw about Blue cross blue shield of Michigan as that’s the insurance my company uses and what I had to deal with when my injury at work happened.

My family hasn’t had the worst time with State Farm, but it does take them forever to do everything. You’re right about that.

I have farmers. Through them, I got motorcycle insurance, paid them $51 for the first month and got in a hit and run. Totaled the bike. I got paid a good amount for my brand new bike and accessories on it as well as everything I was wearing. A month later I had the new model of the same bike. Love them

I had Travelers for insurance on my co-op apartment years ago, and when I had a fire in the living room they took care of EVERYTHING. Cut me a check for full amount of lost possessions, arranged to have full renovations done (I never saw one bill). Great company.

Where does AAA fit in your experience? I had a good outcome with them covering stuff after being rear ended by a box truck while waiting to make a left turn.

Wow I didn't expect that the advertisement of Allstate makes it sound like they are the best insurance

What is your opinion on USAA. We have that and are wondering if we did get in an accident. If they’d be easy to work with.
