In 1969, I chaperoned a group of handicapped/physically challenged teens to Disneyland. My charge was a female teen with severe CP. She was in a wheelchair, but could manage to walk, with my help, inches forward with each laborious tiny step. At that time, there wasn't any handicapped access to rides. She really wanted to ride Pirates of the Caribbean. It took a long time to get her to the boat and seated. The ride operators were wonderful! It is interesting how “The Song of the South” is considered reprehensible even though they are the stories from a real black slave in the south who was reported to have a pleasant disposition despite his lot in life. However, most people do not have a problem with the Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty stories where there were originally based on horrible atrocities to young women. Does the relevant “distance” in time make certain stories more acceptable than others?

I had a friend who was a tool and dye maker for Disney in Florida. He said that in the laundry there were color swatches on the walls and all the linens that came out of the dryers were held up to their respective color swatches. If they didn't match, they were put in the employee store for the employees to purchase. And every evening after closing and every morning before opening all the live plants in the park, including the bushes and grass were inspected for any kind of damage or deviation from perfection. A bent petal or leaf, and the entire plant including the roots was removed and replaced with an unblemished one. The removed plants were placed in the trash and employees were forbidden to touch them. My friend told of a coworker who raised roses and spied a rosebush in the trash, couldn't resist, took it and was promptly terminated. Disney has their rules and they are ruthless in enforcement.

You many not be aware of it, but if someone takes something from your garbage can and is injured, you are legally responsible - that alone is enough reason to not allow. The scattering of ashes happens often, it was happening so often, that the security check was starting to look for ashes in additional to dangerous items. Last time I was there I was made to open a keychain pill holder I had for Nitro pills. The most common rides to have ashes dropped in is the Haunted Mansion, the ride stops often if asked they will say it is to help handicapped people on and off the ride, but if you manage to talk to someone honest they will let you know some of the stops aren't for helping people on ot off but rather for cleaning up ashes. I had a friend who was a reporter for newspapers in Miami and Tampa during the early 1970's. He was one of the first reporters allowed to go behind-the-scenes at Disney World. He wrote what he saw, and the paper printed quite a bit of it. Disney, Inc. sent him a nice acknowledgement, that included official notice that he was thereafter banned from entrance to Disney World. Among the things he told me: 1. The place was surrounded by an electric fence to knock down and thereby discourage Bambi's kin from entering without a ticket. 2. The topiary were plastic. 3. Many of the staff walking around the place dressed as non-threatening animals and very short stature people had to be (very) short stature people to fit into their costumes, and the costmes were very-low-comfort. This gave them a limited number applicants for those jobs at the wages offered. The area in which those people dressed was a disorderly den of foul-mouthed very short persons complaining about just about everything. My friend was a famed story-teller, but also an award-winning reporter. So i'd say that those stories are close to 100% credible to me, but not 100%.

I worked there for 3 years, you can have a beard and mustache if it's groomed, trimmed and exactly 1". And the man mouse is definitely not a thing. Also, Disney's last words were not Kurt Russell. I started kindergarten in 1969, and I was in elementary school in the early 70s when our school actually took us on a field trip to the theater to see "Song Of The South". Our school district in Vancouver, Washington actually felt it was of historical educational importance that we see that film. Interesting. A couple years ago when all the BLM riots began and all the walking back of racism in this country, I KNEW it was only a matter of time before they deleted that movie. Later after moving to Kent, Washington, the Federal Way School District felt it was of important educational value that we go on a field trip to downtown Seattle to a historic theater to see "Romeo & Juliet". This must have been around '75 or '76. I mention the Romeo & Juliet field trip because it's just curious how, in the 70s, those 2 movies were considered necessary historical educational value for children under 12.

In regards to the comments made about the flags at Disney properties, those flag laws aren't laws, they're regulations about physical treatment of the flags followed by government organizations or employees handling the flag at Federal military bases, properties and buildings. Also, there's no such thing as "...official US flags", it would be better to say that there are flags that are correctly made according to the flag's current design, (it has changed over the years), and flags that may look like US flags until you count the number of stars or stripes, or the arrangement of the stars and stripes on the flag. In a country where it's constitutionally protected free speech to burn a flag, it would be kind of difficult having laws about the flag without them eventually being thrown out by the Supreme Court. Which in fact, they have been. The case in question is Texas v. Johnson. Justice Kennedy specifically wrote: "...we are presented with a clear and simple statute to be judged against a pure command of the Constitution. The outcome can be laid at no door but ours. The hard fact is that sometimes we must make decisions we do not like. We make them because they are right, right in the sense that the law and the Constitution, as we see them, compel the result. And so great is our commitment to the process that, except in the rare case, we do not pause to express distaste for the result, perhaps for fear of undermining a valued principle that dictates the decision. This is one of those rare cases. . . . Though symbols often are what we ourselves make of them, the flag is constant in expressing beliefs Americans share, beliefs in law and peace, and that freedom which sustains the human spirit. The case here today forces recognition of the costs to which those beliefs commit us. It is poignant but fundamental that the flag protects those who hold it in contempt."

One thing that always comforted me whenever I went to Disneyland, not sure if they're still doing this now though. Once you walk down Main Street and get to Tomorrowland, right in front of the entrance to what was Star Tours, was the goths. Just about every day they were sitting there all gothed out. Brought me peace of mind when would I see them LOL. It was awesome. One thing some people knew back in the day, before California Adventure was built, was sort of a not too well known entrance to the park. Usually people staying in the hotel would know. We didn't have to wait at the main entrance to get into the park. There was a building nearer to the hotel that was a pickup/dropoff spot for the monorail. When we would go up there, before we got annual passes, we could buy a ticket, wait for the monorail to approach and get on the monorail. It had another pickup/dropoff point inside the park that we got off there. We didn't have to wait in the lines for tickets nor the lines getting into the park. When we got our annual passes, we just showed our passes to the attendant there and hop on the monorail and we're in the park. Not sure if it's still there anymore. Anyone knows if it still is let me know. And no joke, It's A Small World song repeats, I would about 6-7 times throughout the ride. It's annoying AF and pretty creepy. To this day I still remember the whole song and I haven't been back to Disneyland in about 20 years. Before they built California Adventure. Yet, I still remember that song. I had a lot of fun times at Disneyland but it's just too freaking expensive to go back.

Frozen's not the only story that's grim in it's original story. Also the snow queen wasn't a sister but cold witch who actually kidnaps his sister to save her as she a shard in a heart from pan the the imp who dropped the mirror when trying to fight heaven. In terms the sister got a shard lodged in her heart making her cold emotionally where the snow queen saves her. The brother goes through so much to save his sister not knowing the truth until the end. Disney tends to feature various grim fairy tales that have happy endings in Disney films but not their originals tend not to nor the villains Disney creates. The little mermaid was unhappy as the prince never knew her and she ended up human without being able to return to the sea. She's given a knife to kill the prince by her sister to be a mermaid again but instead kills herself. Hades in Hercules is seen as villain and treated as "the devil" but Greek mythology had no devils. Hades was never an enemy to Olympus nor was he Hercules villain. He did however trick Persophone and kidnapped her for 6 months a year because he loved her. She eventually loves him in return. Classic stockholm syndrom. lol. Anyways Zeus who took Chronos' spot to rule was much more tyrannical and more villainous often tricking other gods so he could punish them and mistreatment to Hara and even the creation of Pandora's box as well as giving her insatiable curiosity to tempt her to open. Just never expected hope to slip into the box unnoticed with the evil he put inside it.
@WinoaKaronhiatens2 жыл бұрын
I should've added to Hercules killed his wife (Megara) and children due to Hara's jealousy and making him go insane and tries to atone for his sin and does end up with the gods in the end. Believe there was another story where he actually fails his labors and ends up fighting monsters for eternity for it was at place where heroes go on one of the paths from the river of styx but I don't remember for sure and believe it was for saving Prometheus.

You can't be sued for using a color. What's Disney going to do, sue every star in the sky, each with it's own shade of red? (I think IBM tried doing this once, suing for use of IBM Blue, the color of their registered trademark. They lost the suit).
@ipetmermaid80392 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would think that would be pretty hard to prosecute. They'd have to prove that someone got into Disney's vault and stole the formula to the colors. And that "color owning" thing...I had a craving for Reese's Peanut Butter cups ALL last year, and one night I was examining the packaging/wrapper when I saw the registered trademark for the shade of orange. It says right on the wrapper that particular shade of orange is a registered trademark for Reese's! I was like WUUUUUT??!
@abcde_fz2 жыл бұрын
@@ipetmermaid8039 THAT sounds interesting enough to look up. But the first thing to come to mind was since trademark law protects package design to discourage ripoff counterfeit products, if you dig deeper, it might turn out that even though you only have to put a short statement on your package, the legal papers on file would have to be far more specific and describe not only the color but the specific fonts, shape of package, photos used, stuff like that... I think we can stand by our opinion that you can't copyright or patent a color, but you could protect the color and design with the right paperwork on file. Have a great day!!! :-) :-)
