At 1:15 the level of tension is SO high and it is just so incredibly beautiful. And to nerd out a bit, it's so full of tension because of one other note played by a trumpet. It is playing a 2nd on top of what Raf is singing. And it also is helped by the fact that between the guy and the trumpet, they are making a fourth, which is a really stable and strong interval. For those who don't know, this song follows the original Zapotec story of La Llorona Farther north it's a horror story about an abused woman who kills her two children in murder-suicide, but the original story goes like this. A man sees a woman at a ceremony in a beautiful huipil, and the two get along well enough that they get married soon after. But when revolution comes to Oaxaca, and the man is called up to fight, she (now pregnant) can't stop crying. He wipes the tears from her eyes and playfully calls her "llorona," or crybaby as he sings to her about how they met and how much he loves her. Months later, she's cried for him everyday and prayed for his safe return, and her husband's comrade comes home injured. He tells her that her husband was too maimed to save. She cries, and is left to care for their child alone.
