It is indeed very very joyful to listen to your demonstration bringing nostalgic memories of legendery Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar who could pack all the essential ingredients of major ragas in a capsule form in his concerts. Your struggle and the hardship you encountered is a lesson to students. Thanks a lot for this novel interaction with your audience.

Glad to see how you both evolved over years, from as toddlers singing Rara Venu to as artistes singing astounding RTPs ! And the discipline of appa is worth the rewards that are tangible now. And the underline message is how humble you both are & were, undisturbed by the heights you have reached ♥️ Warm affections for your sublime qualities, apart from the music ! My question for the next session - Please share an interesting episode from your Violin & Vocal (separate) classes that was a realisation point or something light, witty episodes with your gurus Sri TS Krishnaswamy & Sri PS Narayanaswamy. Regards, Vijay.

Absolutely superb! You talked about relentless practice and not giving up being crucial to success in music -- a point that needs to be revisited upon the youth of today [the generation that says "Dad! I'm told patience is necessary to achieve things, so get it for me! Now!"] Your taking up Kalyani was for me the 'sone pe suhaga' - for me that raga is the very essence of music. My humble pranaams to your father for the marvelous honing he has done to you both, giving us two gems in the classical domain. You've got the series off to a flying start, and we keenly await every Monday now. Thank you.

The depth in that Kalyani, even within 3 minutes , clearly as a result of what they call Asura Saadhagam, Thanks to your gurus/Appa and your own efforts. But more importantly accompanying so many vidwans and Vidhushis have added to your vidhwat and made you two quite unique. Cant start talking about growing up in Bombay opening up your ears to the Shruthi perfection , Thehraav and bhavam of Hindustani style. Perfect recipe for future aspirants : Grow up in Bombay, have a Task-master Great Dad, Work tirelessly and start your career as an accompanist!

Hello Rajani & Gayatri. Most endearing video this has been. I have seen all your candid videos. Your style of presenting personal anecdotes mixed with classical lecture demos is a brilliant idea. It's like a perfect blend Madras coffee. I am telugu speaking with a lot of exposure to classical music in my childhood....Thanks to my father. Learnt some Thamizh from him through these music compositions. I must have heard to your rendition of Pandharipur bhooth mote and the murchana presentation atleast a 100 times. Wish you both all the very best in your musical and personal journey. You have spoken very well about building strength of character, fruits of patience and endurance. When you reach your milestone episodes, do make a DVD of these episodes. What is your influence of Carnatic music in your respective families ? Do your children feel pressured to be achievers like you? How did you both build your musical synergies so perfectly ? Thank you .

I truly enjoyed this episode 2 - music drills with Appa. Every word you spoke in this episode reminded me of my younger days and the grueling music classes I had with my guru. As every class begins with “SA..Pa.. Sa’”, I remember a class where I sang the first SA for 1 hour, and then my guru said “akaaram innum sariya varale, sruthi serale, that’s enough for today, practice better and come for next class”. I felt so dejected that day, but today I am so pleased it turned out that way. It was a slow burn and long process for me, but I am so happy that through these learning experiences I am able to appreciate and enjoy good music. Thanks for a great episode and sending me down memory lane. Best wishes

Awesome articulation of your thoughts and experiences. Can you both please have an episode just on the violin? And how singing helped your violin and vice versa. Stalwarts like TNS compromised on Shruti to get their impossible sangathis and swaras possible. Going to that extra height is exhilarating. You both are able to strike a balance and keep Shruti intact. Perhaps the disciplined practice!

What an insightful video into the things that made you who you are! Absolutely loved the role-play, and of course, mind blown by the alapanas. I have a question. Is there an age after which it's not feasible to be a musician? What does one do, if they're not a child prodigy, if music is a love that arrived too late? And most importantly, what does someone do to practice the way you did with your father without someone like that at home? What practices must one do on their own, outside music classes? - Your run-of-the-mill indisciplined, distracted millennial.

Success and failures are tied to each other and very rightly said by Ranjani Popularity need not match to success. The best part of Carnatic music is that the right thing comes at the right age. An aspiring key note is struck in Epo2 when you made a mention of a prospective RAGA University (RU) I think. Well with a vast listenership and other means that may come to pass. Interspersed with the Sanskrit mixed lingo your chat sounded sweeter and homely. With that strong note of HOPE incarnate as you are, (RU?), it is not inconceivable. Together, you CAN on a matrix of what you DID across the steep of time. Ascent is sure though hard. May RAGA be a Divine Descent of Grace. Prof SAS
