Madam, it is kanna nee varuvaya from Nandini movie. A lot of melody is noticed in your playing. Gowrimanohari raaga as it is, it is a melodious raaga. Paatum naane song by KV Mahadevan sir cannot be forgotten even though 50+ years has passed.

Hi this ragas melody minor scale in western , that’s meen gowri monokari ragas, natural minor scale means nadaipairavi raagas, harmonic minor scale means. Keeravani. Raagams 😄

It's Indian strings only Kalpana.. normal Ellora strings 32 size first, 30,26,24 like that. Thalam 30,32,32.. or I use German strings for magnetic pickup veena..(my other normal veena.. ) this is madhura veena which has bridge pick up. Magnetic strings u can use 33,30,26,24 and side 32,33,33

I don't think Ilayaraja knows that he has used Charukesi in one line of a song you pointed out. I am not saying this to mean that Ilayaraja doesn't know these ragas. Normally when a composer composes, especially, filmy composers, they compose for the situation and I have seen people like MSV or IR just play a tune that appeals to them and they often don't know or bother about the raga!! Of course, they also compose certain songs set to a particular raga. However, when we compose a song in Carnatic music, we have to strictly stick to the scale of a raga and we do not have the freedom to bring in "anya swaras" as we wish. This restriction doesn't exist for a film composer!!! Your presentation of the raga is very good. Recently, I had composed a classical kriti (all my kritis are on my Sadguru Shiridi Sai Baba) in Gowrimanohari, where I found that many lines end in the swara "ga" which gives the raga a different flavor, compared to compositions like Varalakshmi Namostute (Mysore Vasudevachar), or Guruleka Ituvanti. Anyway, thanks for your demo.

As a Raja sir fan,I really wonder the way he mixes anniya swaram to a ragam. A composer should carefully.mix anniya swaram not to spoil the beauty of the flow which is seen in most of IR songs.:)
