Late Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi was an Indian vocalist from Karnataka in the Hindustani classical tradition. He is known for the khayal form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music.
Raga Yaman, also known as Emaan in West Asia and 'Kalyani' in Carnatic classical music, is a heptatonic (Sampurna) Hindustani Classical raga of Kalyan Thaat.Considered to be one of the most fundamental ragas in the Hindustani Classical tradition, it is thus often one of the first ragas taught to students. In the context of traditional standards of performance, Yaman ragas are considered suitable to play at any time of the day, but they are traditionally performed in the evening.
Bhimsen Joshi was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship in 1998, the highest honour conferred by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. Subsequently, he received the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 2009. He made a career in Hindustani classical music, devotional music, patriotic music and playback singing. Bhimsen Joshi was known for his powerful voice, amazing breath control, fine musical sensibility and unwavering grasp of the fundamentals. He died in 2011, aged 88, in Pune, Maharashtra. Joshi first performed live in 1941 at the age 19. His debut album, containing a few devotional songs in Marathi and Hindi, was released in 1942.

What an apt observation! I recall reading his paT-shishya saying in an interview that Bhimanna had a particular sway or hold when it came to Yaman, that no two Yamans sung by him were ever the same, that he could create an unending variety in them. Which is why it saddens me that there are almost no recordings of his guru and dada-guru singing Yaman. (The closest we come are Pt. Sawai Gandharva's _Zhani dhav aata_ and _Dhav ghale mazhe Aai_ )

Raag Yaman(Kalyani in Carnatic Music) has the power to make one forget everything in the universe. You must have heard it in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's famous compositions: Laal Ishq, Aayat, Ek dil hai ek Jaan hai. But ofc the voice trained over a lifetime can't be matched. The piety of Panditji's Aatman makes this rendition even more special.
