অনেকদিন ধরেই তোমাদের ভিডিও দেখি। ভারি ভাল লাগে। তোমার কন্ঠ তো দুর্দান্ত এবং ইউনিক, সেই সঙ্গে উচ্চাঙ্গ সংগীতের প্রশিক্ষণ এবং চর্চায় তোমার গান অন্য মাত্রা পেয়েছে। তবে দুদিন আগে ব্যারাকপুরে একটা বিয়ে বাড়িতে তাপুদা মানে তোমার মামার সাথে দেখা। সেখানেই জানতে পারলাম তুমি আমার বাকমদির ছেলে। এটা জানার পর ভাললাগা থেকে গর্বে বুকটা ভরে গেল। কিন্তু বাকমদির চলে যাওয়াটা আমাকে ভীষণভাবে আঘাত করেছে। এত তারাতাড়ি বাকমদি চলে যাবে এ কল্পনার বাইরে। আমরা দুজনই শ্রীমতী ভারতী ভট্টাচার্যের কাছে গান শিখতাম বেশ কয়েকটা বছর। একই দিনে ক্লাস ছিল। শুরুতে আমি শিখতাম পরে বাকমদি। বাকমদি যখন বিলম্বিত গাইত আমি মুগ্ধ হয়ে শুনতাম। মনে হত আমি কবে বিলম্বিত লয়ে গান গাইব! সেই সময় মাঝে মাঝে আমাদের সবার বাড়িতে ঘরোয়া আসর হত। বাকমদিরা তখন মসজিদ মোরে একটা বাড়িতে ভাড়া ছিল। সেখানে প্রথম ভাস্বতীদির গান শুনলাম। কী অপূর্ব!! তখন তোমার দাদু দিদা ছিলেন প্রধান পৃষ্টপোসক। পরে নিজেদের বাড়ি হল। নতুন বাড়িটা আমাদের বাড়ির বেশ কাছকাছি ছিল। বাকমদির কাছে কত বকুনি খেয়েছি দুষ্টুমি করার জন্য। ক্লাস শেষ হলে আমরা দুজন একসাথে ফিরতাম। আমাদের বাড়ি কাছকাছিই ছিল। আমাদের বাড়িতেও গানের আসর বসত। কাকিমার (শ্রীমতী ভারতী ভট্টাচার্য) সাথে বাকমদিও বিস্তার করত সেই আসরে। পরে আমি যখন বিলম্বিত গাইতে শুরু করলাম বাকমদি তখন গান ছেড়ে দিল। আস্তে আস্তে দেখা শোনা কমে গেল কিন্তু বুকের ভিতরের ভালবাসাটা রয়ে গেল। বাকমদির সাথে শেষ দেখা সম্ভবত ১৯৯৩ বা ৯৪ সালে। আমি তখন দুর্গাপুরের বাসিন্দা। সল্টলেক যুবভারতীতে লতা মঙ্গেশকরের অনুষ্ঠানের সবচেয়ে দামী টিকিট কাটা ছিল। তা সত্বেও আমরা যখন ঢুকেছি তখন বেশ কয়েক সারি পিছনে। আমাদের চেয়ারগুলো জয়েন্ট ছিল। হঠাৎ দেখি অনেক সামনে, বাউন্ডারি দড়িটার কাছে একজন মহিলা আর একটি বাচ্চা ছেলে দুটি চেয়ারে বসে আছে। সামনে এসে দেখি বাকমদি আর তার পাশে তার ছোট্ট একটি ছেলে, যে আজকের বিখ্যাত গায়ক সৌম্যজিৎ। আমি খুব আক্ষেপের সাথে বললাম, ''বাকমদি, তুমি কী সুন্দর সামনে চেয়ার নিয়ে বসেছ, আমাদের চেয়ারগুলো জোড়া লাগানো!!" বাকমদি আর আমি দুজনেই লতাজির ভক্ত। বাকমদি স্বভাবসুলভ বকুনি দিয়ে বলল, '' অ্যাই শোন, মাটিতে বসে যা।'' আমি তখনই মাটিতে বসে গেলাম। পুরো ফাংশানটা আমি মাটিতে বসেই শুনলাম। তুমি খুব ছোটো ছিলে নিশ্চয়ই কিছু মনে নেই। গলগল করে অনেক কথা বলে ফেললাম। বাকমদির জন্য বুকটা চিনচিন করলেও তোমার জন্য আনন্দে ভরে উঠেছি। তুমি যে আমার বাকমদির ছেলে। ভাল থেকো, সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়ুক তোমার সুর। তোমাদের জুটি সফল হোক।
