You guys cannot even fathom to what level you have elevated the pride of Carnatic music...These are contents most people could never get to experience in their lifetime...even with a guru it might take years before one could learn such things...If any gods do exist let them bless you all and your successors to come forever...

This is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for doing this Uma Ma'am. Your command of swaras and notes is amazing. This past week, I embarked on the exercise of ear training and found your videos very useful. I have a specific ask. How can I get in touch to discuss?

Wow, fantastic! this was such a simple and effective way to try and align to the shruti of the drone....excellent! I feel more confident now...I have been trying to do this for 10 years (without a guru) and almost gave up that there is no solution to do it by oneself....Can you just give some excercises in a slow aalaapanai to find sa ? Thanks a zillion, as usual!

Sir, am a follower of ur channel for a while, I have studied carnatic for nearly 10 years ,I can't claim to be a good singer, but believe quite an okk okk singer ,even though I can sing songs I can't decode the swaras underneath each tune I sing.... I haven't learned any instruments, I think it's because of that... Can u provide more contents with which I can understand and instantly tell the swaras behind every song I hear..... Expecting your reply! Is it possible without learning piano or any other instruments!?
@ragasurabhi4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible....but it takes lot of effort, ear training and patience. Please start by understanding the various Swara Sthanas.....you can practise with our videos and keep watching the videos that we release in this series. Were you able to identify the different Sa based on the Shruti change while watching this video? All the best!
@sreeraghmraju49604 жыл бұрын
@@ragasurabhi identifying sa was quite simple, but towards the end I identified the higher sa rather than identifying the lower sa!

@@ragasurabhi thanks alot for taking time to reply me, I'm so thankful, can you please share the link of those videos... And another main doubt I have is, normally while singing keerthanas we use "pa" as the base Sruthi note, still we sing sa as that tone ,why so? I sometimes think that I'm singing sa listening to PA !
@ragasurabhi4 жыл бұрын
@@sreeraghmraju4960 The playlist is shared in the description of this video. And also appears as a suggested video on top while you watch this video. Yes this confusion of Sa and Pa exists for many people.....one has to practise and train to get perfect.

Good. But could have done leisurely, by stopping completely at the end of each Sruthi, so that learners will be back to normal before listening the new one.

Sorry, unable to understand this exercise. How he picks up the Sa at the exact point still remains a Big Question Mark. Aarambame ivvaLavu complicate aa irukke! Hmm! Any way we appreciate your sincere initiative Madam. I hv not learnt formal music. Just I keep listening to it over the last 25-30 yrs. But, hv been managing to identify the Raagaas based on how a Tune for a Raagaa travels. One more Question is: Most of us find it easy to identify a Raaga @ Aalapana Stage itself many times, except for Vivaadhi Raagas where we indulge in choosing "Othaiyaa? Rettaiyaa?". But, it remains quite difficult to decodify the Swaraas when a Krithi is sung. My Question is when we are able to identify a Raagaa at he Aalapana Stage itself where No Swaraa is rendered, but just it is sung as "Aaaaa, Reee, Mmmmm, Laaa,". how come Swaraas become relevant in determining Or identifying a Raaga?
@srinivasanjeya4 жыл бұрын
The tanpura shruthi travels from sa pa sa in different shruthis of our choice(12 sruthis in total). If we listen to the shruthi 2 or 3 times we can determine the tonic note and sing along. By the way the sawaras can't help us identify the ragam. The characteristic phrases and the gamakas only can help us identify the ragam. With swaras alone one can't tell whether it was ananda bhairavi or reethigowlai.
