My father's 27th year tomorrow. he was a broken man himself and his tragic passing has followed me like a shadow most of my life and the song's verses is a similar telling to how i sometimes cope with the loss. I'm an man myself now and although i'm forever broken by what happened, but have done countless work to better myself. sleep well dad.

For an unnecessarily long amount of time I've fought with my demons. My father and his neglect of my mother and I being the main culprit. Sitting here in my despair not wanting to become him I remembered this song. It has been two decades since last heard this message, and one thing remains clear. I am not him nor will I ever be. This is my anthem. Thank you Zack.

My father has always been a confused man a broken man, who used anger as a tool to express himself. Even as i kid this song shed so much light for me about who he was and now as a man now i understand his struggles and his weaknesses but one thing always resonates with me that i would learn from his experience and would never do the same to my family including him. Thanks for the lesson abbu, i love you regardless of everything.

My father is an abusive nassasict that I have cut out of my life. I now have a son of my own and put significant effort to affirm the line of abuse ends with me. My son will not be plagued with the same pain and anger that resides within me. I was born of a broken man. I love you, Wyatt. Nobody is gonna want the best for you but your father. You are born of a broken society, that tries to put parents in a negative light. Your society is a sick ill society. Parents are everything. Parent might not be the perfect people, but they are the perfect people to confide to who will be there for you no matter what. Your concept of abuse is the result of your society. A Father is supposed to discipline his children. I 1 million percent disagree with you and your whole culture.

Hi Zack. If by chance you ever read this, here's what I'd like you to know: the reason this song validated me so much is because I've known someone like that too. Someone I thought I could fix, but I couldn't. Someone who evoked Jesus while at the same time hating people. Someone who treated me in ways I would never, ever, ever treat another human being. Someone I'm still afraid of despite years of silence. She was a broken woman, but I'll never be a broken woman. I can't thank you enough, man. I can't thank you enough.
