I feel like rage has great potential as a franchise, but it needs a sequel to really get it right. I loved the combat system, I love post-apocalypse. It was a really fun game, however the story wasn't deep enough and the game was way to short. When it ended I was genuinely suprised at what an anti-climax it was

it wasn't too short. Crysis 3 was too damn short. RAGE was a good length.

Such a great, underrated game! Sure the story was nothing to write home about and I wished it could have had more of a feeling of resolution, I'd take Rages idea of an action/RPG/shooter hybrid any day over more popular brands like fallout and borderlands. Both those franchises deserve their merit to be sure and definitely are more fleshed out when it comes to the RPG aspect and customization in general. But when it comes to pure, awesome gameplay? To me Rage stands above the pack, making every encounter something exciting and unique, giving you a lot of freedom and cool, original weaponry to play around with. You never felt like you were grinding because you HAD to, Rage cut to the chase, showed you what to do quick, and threw you into this beautiful wasteland for you to figure out. Driving and vehicular combat was solid, especially if you take the time to upgrade your car, and the FPS gunplay, and AI in general, all on point and very well done. All this at 60fps even on ps3/360 in 2011. Theres so much more to say but would LOVE to see ID give this franchise another try. #RAGEISAWESOME

I really miss Gametrailers.com. This old scoring system was the best around. I would look forward to each one and would watch every review despite not being interested in the game. That's a testament to you guys. Thanks for all of the great content over the years. BTW, you review of the original Bioshock was the best video review I've seen still. Superb editing.

This game maxed on a PC still looks better than 90% of games today, hell even BOTH console versions looked great & ran at 60fps almost the entirety of the game. That's a testament to the engine & what a developer can do with good coders.

I'm playing it right now, maxed out at 4k and it's a beautiful looking game from a distance... every object and NPC you look up close is lacking and the textures are super blurry even when unlocking the 16k textures. As I said, things look good when you are moving around, but from the moment you stop to look at details, it's pretty rough.

The game wasn't even on equal footing to games in its year, lmao. Arkham City, Witcher 2, Dead Space 2, Uncharted 3, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, Gears of War 3, not even Far Cry 2 from 3 years prior. As opposed to all games mentioned, it did manage to run at 60 fps, while only Modern Warfare 3 from 2011 managed to do. But even CoD looked just about on par, animations for NPCs/enemies and distant vistas aside.

Honestly I don't think it does, Bethesda already has Fallout, no reason to have 2 games identical to each other except one is rich in content and the other is a ho hum FPS and no the punch line isn't that Fallout is the ho hum FPS

Love this Review (although GT is always really good) So happy I FINALLY was able to find a copy to re add the game to my collection on PS3, None of my local stores that sell games new OR used had it, after a long ass time finally found one in CeX for just $6 in pretty much Brand New condition

Man I been playing it on PC recently and I can't help but notice how rough the game looks on Xbox 360

120 fps, 4K, 16xMSAA, 4xAF, 16K textures and a 90-120 FOV? A tremendous improvement vs X360/PS3, indeed. Even so, textures are still horrendously low resolution most of the time when inspected up close.

Bethesda needs to make a sequel or soft reboot. I'm sure they can knock it out of the park. After all Doom and Wolfenstine are amazing reboots.

@@TheRealJochen umm I have mix feelings. The first one was more of a fallout/mad max feel. And the second one just scraped all that for a over the top empty world. It played fine but could have been way better

@@NuclearAbyss the DLC is infinity better than the main game. You literally cannot stop moving while in combat, the map isn't as big and looks a lot like the first games design, the enemies are brutal.

This review tells a good lesson. It's best to always do sufficient but minimal research on a game before playing it. Makes the game much more fun. Believe it or not, this is true. Sadly, most publishers don't care, they shower us with 50% of a game's content before even being released.

ElementGuns12 I totally agree with you. I had initially played Rage back in 2012-ish, and it was an awesome game. Unfortunately, I had to quit because of university. Now after all these years, I'm back to the game (with its expansion; Scorchers), and I'm really enjoying it. That being said; Starhawk is another amazing game (played and finished the game back in 2014). I listen to the soundtrack of Starhawk even today. Thus; I can wholeheartedly recommend both games to anyone interested :)
