It's more a sigh of sad capitulation before pressing the concede button when a certain card drops or I face 4 'Ugin is in my deck because Ugin's gotta Ugin' decks in a row (like I did today even if it made no sense to have him in their deck). Not even in ranked. I truly wish there was a restricted format or that they made Pauper a permanent format, I think giving people the widest choice of what sort of games they'd like to play would be good business as well. So what about this, replace the agonizing remorse with birth as a 4 of and take out a kaya and the elspeth and replace them with archon.. because then 21 of your permanents would be either enchantments or archon itself... and if you really want to get spicy, and this is a total stretch here, maybe you run 1 grim tutor lol. for those who want to be a top deck god late game. and im pretty sure i dont have to spell out yorion + archon value.. you don't get it back at the beginning of your next turn, you get it back at the beginning of the next end step. since you were at your precombat main phase, you'd return the yorion at your end step and immediately be able to block. the issue is that when yorion enters the battlefield, the end step has already begun. so if you choose to use his triggered ability on any creatures, they will be exiled until the opponent's end step. so you only lose blockers from that if you try to loop the abilities by using prince's ability on yorion, then using yorion's ability on prince during the end step, with the intention of using prince's ability on yorion, and so on

Saying exile is better than discard seems to be a reason to play rats before lurker. Your opponent picks so you exile their weakest card and then discard next time when you would normally hit a stronger card they kept. Then the first creature out nearly always eats removal so having the exile effect to flicker is better.

@clrl936

Simic has a lot of high end cards that are devastating. Uro can return over and over again giving you a card with it, Krassis can refill your entire hand and cant even be countered properly, Ugin surname is "f**k you" and Nissa can add pressure by her own while also making future plays even more devastating. You either have to put pressure early in the game to try to win before they can start generating value or you have to have very good answers in your hand, otherwise its just better to conceade and move on to another game. CGB had neither. Even if you clear their entire hand and field, they still have a lot of top decks that can make them automatically recover the dominant position in the game. Not to mention that he was just hit by a casualties of war on the turn before and lost the card that he was hoping would do good work in that situation and a land.

@@manggy The deck he is using is a grindy deck. It does have ponctual asnwers but its a deck that needs time to win. Even if you clear their entire hand and board, Simic has way too much insane top decks. Even if you have some answers, you will not be able to outgrind their value on the long term. Especially when he had nothing on the field to put pressure and win ASAP. Its a bad match up. I remember a video from channelfireball (I guess? I am not sure now) that tried to play modern Jund with Liliana of the veil (which is one of the best grindy decks ever) against the last version of bant ramp from standard (before teferi's ban). It was a complete massacre. Simic value is just too much, even for one well stablished modern grindy deck. Let alone for this standard, non competitive deck that cbg is playing. Any grindy deck fares very poorly against Uro and company. Edit: I just looked. It was a MTGgoldfish video. Just type modern jund vs standard bant that you will find it.

CGB, how come you have Kaya's Wrath in one match but none in your decklist, and both in the beginning of the video and in the end?
@skorpiongod

Iirc he does his deck intro after he already has recorded all the games in the video. So he sometimes tweaks the deck but we dont necessarily see that in the games he plays but the intro and reviews are usually the final product

4:23 I don't see any scenarios where picking the giant is worse than picking the champion. It's just too much of a power discrepancy even if they draw another champion
@jasonm.6442
@jasonm.6442 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think he meant giant over champion was playing with fire, I think he just meant in general he was at risk playing against mono red. He had no hesitation and went straight for it.

@@covertgoblue I think it´s great. super flexible. kills every token, krasis, stonecoil, removes enchantments/counters from creatures, resets my own stuff like ECD or even yorion, can save my stuff from targeted removal, and even remove attacking creature from combat to stay alive if everything else fails.

What are your thoughts on the recent Abzan Yorion decks that have been popping up? They trade the discard for ramp and recursion. I've managed to hit a 75% win rate over 20 games in Bo3 with Lucina Eller's list (which ditches Doom for vito synergy), and 62.5% over 8 games with HGRose's list (closer to Orzhov's Doom Foretold Yorion). Do you think either of them can compare to Orzhov? Lucina Eller's Abzan Midrange: mtgdecks.net/Standard/abzan-midrange-decklist-by-lucina-eller-1017478 HGRose's Abzan Yorion: www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/3288866#paper I've been able to sweep some games out from under people with Lucina Eller's list by letting my Vito witness a lifelinking Polukranos eat my own Grazer. More than once!

I made a deck with 4 orders of the ebon legion and 56 lands once. LOL I never missed any land drops. HA HA HA HA HA Also that card is so busted you have a higher than 0% chance to win with that deck. Just mulligan till you get a knight in your opening hand, and boom, you literally don't need anything else in this game.

against mono red it's the same thing, against simic or rakdos exile is better. mono green destroy would probably be better, but in bo1 you go with whatever has the wider range or targeting what you expect to see more of.
