As someone who has a strong interest in marine biology, I freaking loved this elder dragon. I think the vampire squid was a big inspiration for the design, which can be seen greatly in its wings, and for the rest of its body, I think it a bit of dragon fish, comb jelly, and giant Japanese salamander as well.

i have a dedicated set to fighting namielle (when tempered) with 40+ resistance for both water and lightning. Setting up to fight tempered nergigante atm since i expect him to one shot and body countless people lol. Naturally i am looking forwards to watching him drop bodies in the guiding lands while i either get included in the bunch, or sit back laughing while i enjoy the fight :D

I usually just run one build focused on damage, now that i think of it I've only ever focused on an elemental resistance twice and that was for AT Teo, and Luna and even then i only did it once for each before I realized "I could just tank these with raw defense."

Well, all the first wyverians are still alive from the Ancient Dragon War. Not all ancient wyverians were mad scientists trying to create an abomination of a weapon by killing and stitching together elder dragons(which lived alongside them peacefully before the war). But even if they sided with dragons or were neutral, all it would take to ruin their disposition towards dragons is a understandably enraged Fatalis indiscriminately killing every wyverian in sight.

exactly why i don't (and can't) take the so-called "lore" about fatalis seriously, it just screams exaggeration and demonization of an animal who is mostly just minding their own business and trying to survive, my guess is those lores are made by people who got butthurt over losing competitions over territory, and the whole dragon war story is basically just an exaggeration of that conflict/competition, much like how noah's flood story is an exaggeration of the floods common in the middle east at the time

20:08, Josh lost about three quarters health from her super move while Cotton only took about half health. I noticed that, at that point, Josh had water blight while Cotton did not. Could just be that Josh was around more of the ground-water, but it would be so cool if having water blight made Namielle's electric attacks do more damage to you. Also, I now have a new favorite World monster design. Wish I had the game.

bit late. But Cotton was mid-jump. So it's probably just him not getting hit with water explosion and only tickled with lighting. But it's hard to tell for sure. So i think it's just Josh, being sweaty tryhard that he is, probably rocking some +fire -water resistance gear. Since in world there are a lot of fire monsters and very few water. While Cotton has gear without weakness to water attacks.

According to concept art and related notes, Namielle was originally going to secrete some kind of light-absorbing ink from the back of its wings. It was planned to have it spread this ink around while flying and surfing its puddles. This aspect of Nami's concept never made it into the fight, but it's possible that it still has this ability in lore, which would explain why the player's entire surroundings darkened.

@@DragonessYT That's a good point. there's a lot of speculating around Frontier for a few reasons, but mostly it's because the Monster Hunter team hasn't acknowledged whether it's canon or not (as far as I know). Generations is a spin-off, yes, but it's still within the mainline Monster Hunter games. We have Glavenus, and we have gotten Lavasioth and Hypnocatrice, but I think that somewhere down the line, Frontier just deviated too far from what's considered "normal" Monster Hunter.

I'm okay with that though, because each one (even crazy monsters like Shara, Dalamadur, and Dire Miralis), is crafted to be a decent believable monster. I don't mind whether they're canon or not, but it seems like a lot of frontier/online monsters are made with the idea of "make a boss battle, then expand on it's existence later". That's not bad design at all, I'm just not a fan of it.

Although I would like to think they are something super special, they seem to simply be roars calling for help. Since the one in the anchient forest appearance when both ratholos and rathian are on the map, and one is near death. Another appears in the horefrost reach when both legiana and sheriking legiana are on the map and one is low. I feel like such a simple conclusion wouldn't cover a video well enough

Namielle is so cool ! And her design makes sense too. Her back is all black so that she can hide herself in the deep, dark sea (she could probably hide all of her body that way), her bioluminescent front allows her to see, and her general floatiness allows her to conserve her energy while moving around (which is also extremely important for a deep sea creature).

Marine life is amazing, most of the abilities the Namielle presents are actual things some of the more esoteric deep sea animals are able to produce. Excepting the straight out hydrokinesis, the Namielle is a marvel of a creature that is hybridizing natural abilities from about six species that exist in the real oceans I believe. If it were a thing I would ADORE to see its physiology reports... EDIT: Also Josh´s most deadly debuff is confusion. Everytime he does, one can hear the gears in his brain slowly grinding to a halt as it tries to resume normal operations, but before he can the monster will IMMEDIATELY take advantage and cart him. POSTEDIT: According to Cotton we should open a poll to nominate Namielel as the enxt big DIsney villain. MAleficent having some competition?

The literal ONLY downside of this monster is that her fight isn't that intense. She rellies on her super attack and becomes weakened after it. Also I'd like to see some more water element harness, but that's just me. Aside from that, everything is beautifully designed, thought and done, it's amazing.

The Namielle in the story is most likely a male Namielle, since the first Wyverian calls it the Master and not Mistress of the torrent, so it's pretty weird hearing everyone calling it a she. Before you know it Capcom will say it's a Mitsuzune type of deal where it's exclusively male XD
