With how well-defined Diablos has become in the 5th generation, Monoblos is gonna need a serious revamp to make it stand out in comparison. For me personally, I wanted to see it gain a more jabbing-style attack pattern where it focuses on quick and precise horn stabbing compared to Diablos's more straightforward charges and wide sweeps.

According to interviews, every monster in Stories 2 was planned to be rideable. There's very early screenshots of Agnaktor's icon in a monstie list, and datamining shows that there are programmed saddle positions for Agnaktor and Daimyo. There's also a number of other things that got cut/changed from the final release. If there's ever a Stories 3, which seems pretty likely, it's very likely to have everything rideable as they planned, plus much more.

I really appreciate cotton using insect glaive and giving the actual kinsect a chance to shine, and I really hope he gets a chance to evolve it cause this game had one of my favorite kinsects to use ...but at the same time I feel really bad for him trying to actually upgrade the kinsect and glaive, cause the system for doing so in this game specifically was absurdly convoluted. So much so that I don't even fully remember the steps for getting the right kinsect even though I did it like 6 times, lol

The issue with Monoblos is It's way easier to make two fire monsters insanely different than two monsters that not only lack an element but also have way too many similar traits baked into their lore. Teo and Luna can feel different while looking similar because they use their element differently. They'd either have to retcon all Monoblos lore and give it a redesign, or give it a very specific gimmick to make it stand as anything other than a Diablos cousin at this point. Or just say screw it and put him alongside Diablos completely unchanged.

@@Y0G0FU I don't feel that would be enough since we have things like Black and Bloodbath who fill the role of the faster and more aggressive Diablos. They lowkey damned Monoblos with the whole single player shtick they gave it, since it's purpose was literally to be the single player Diablos. It would actually be pretty funny if the devs change nothing about Monoblos, just to give players that think monster variations are still just reskins like gen 1 and 2 something to really whine about.

They should do something unique/new with monoblos so it stands out from its 2 horned cousin. You know something to set it apart like the raths in later generations so it’s not “diet Diablos”. This also includes giving it some unique armor and weapons. Heck in 4u it’s armor was a literal color swap of diablos making it seem like a subspecies more than anything!

Monoblos... the Styracosaurus Wyvern, and the 2nd on the podium of monsters that pissed me off. like with Pink Rathian, he kept carting me in one or two hits, three at most. again, because i was wearing Shagaru Magala armour. and because he used that double tail attack *every* time i would rush in trying to take advantage of the opening after he charges! i say again: grind base/Blue Yian Kut Ku's armour. it'll save your life and sanity when you reach Caravan pt. 2 and High rank Hub! i also say again that i know, i did just that! but stressful memories aside, i hope Monoblos comes back (and add another Blos Wyvern: Triblos). 22:06 hopefully we'll have multiple "Siege" monsters. Lao Shan Lung is my vote for *one* of the returning monsters the other being Shen Gaoren; we'd get a Lao weapon for all 14 types (Online had Lao's SnS, which is literally a recolouration of Ashen's SnS), and Lao would gain a breath attack that looks like cold breath that inflicts Dragonblight (i mean, he was the introduction to the Dragon element back in the day). as for a new monster, i pick a fire-breahing dragon who is similar to Lao Shan Lung. the map? an updated version of the Fortress. i miss that map. (as for the normal dragons, i hope we get to go back to the Battlequarters).

Monoplos and Diablos should get the Rathalos treatment of not changing the design but updating it and in this case making them more different like making Monoplos or sweeps and charges and have more above ground charges focused while Diablos should be not only digging but be able to dive in and out if the sand for faster but less damaging attacks and have our current digging be the heavy hits.

I really miss monoblos though now we get the two horn diablos. It would be cool to see a turf war between those two. Plus Kushala was considered a threat (in lore term) as it’s a elder dragon who can destroy a town or place easily, but the recent one doesn’t seem to show the danger of many of the elder dragons… Risen form is fun and threatening, true. But in lore term, I personally feel it lacking in some ways.

Horrible idea but: Imagine a Bloodbath Monoblos that would be a gruesome beast since Diablos is the result of a hunter breaking its horn and it growing back wrong considering Moboblos's lore a Deviant ala Bloodbath would be like a young Monoblos caught by poachers and kept alive so it can keep regrowing its horn while the poachers harvest the horn again and again until the horn grows back twisted and gnarled and then somehow someone ever sets the Monoblos free or it gets free and then it just goes on a murderous rampage imagine an almost skeleton thin Monoblos with torn wings and a twisted horn covered in blood of any human it sees

What I liked about 4's story is that they emphasize that even for the "Ace" team teaming down an Elder Dragon is almost impossible. It properly establishes the hunters we play really are just built different.

diablos should be slightly dragon based imo it still mainly attacks with physical moves, but, its horns gain dragon element in some way while enraged diablos being a demonic based name should be the more aggressive, reckless and violent monster with no care monoblos should be smarter, more careful with its attacks, it shouldn't dig as much as diablos, but instead, it will cancel a charge/redirect a charge using a strong beat of its wings, and when exiting the ground it should fully exit in the way a dolphin dives out of the water, and use its wings to keep itself up for a second before launching itself at you to extend this, black diablos should be able to apply dragon blight on horn hits in general, while when enraged, it would extend its horn and tails range with dragon energy white monoblos should be able to apply strong wind pressure with its wings, and its tail spin should also apply it, when enraged whenever it does a wind flap it would launch rubble that hits you but doesn't knock you down (bypassing windpressure negation basically) and during its charge it could drag its horn along the ground before uppercutting with it extremely fast, launching rubble with a blast of wind from the force Black diablos could have a super move where it cloaks itself in dragon energy before going into its dig attack, it would between 2 and 4 times do its regular horn burst attack, but on the respective 3rd to 5th attack, would surface in a LARGE explosion of dragon energy, which immediately exhausts it, making it an extremely strong reckless attack that leaves it open to huge damage if you dodge it. dragon energy released by black diablos will have different shapes and strength depending on the location and enviroment White monoblos's super attack would involve it flapping its wings to lift itself up, while cloaking itself in a wind aura, shortly before diving into the ground while spiraling this would have different effects depending on the area and ground type in a desert type area, it would create a MASSIVE sandy spiral pitfall trap like an antlion that would drag hunters into the center before it pierced outwards for massive damage (this could be prevented by timing a sonic bomb right over the hole you are dragged towards right as the drag of sand stops and it bursts outwards) in an area similar to the reefs, on the beach, or near rivers/lakes, a similar sized area to the pitfall trap becomes muddy, and the ground becomes softer allowing the monoblos to swim through it much faster, while also 'spawning' 2 decent sized rocks, and slowing the hunter down, where it proceeds to do a much stronger version of the dive and burst type attack the blos family does, it would be preventable by standing on any rocks that surface, this allows you to dive before the horn strike, and the monoblos will break that rock into less stable ground if it came up beneath it, and if you are the targeted hunter for the surfacing burst, the monoblos will smash its horn into the rock below you as it surfaces, completely destroying the rock, launching the player after dealing slight damage if they failed to dive as the area returns to normal, resulting in large part damage to the horn itself, while also resulting in a short knockdown in regular rocky/forest/plains like areas, the ground will shake slightly, preventing you from superman diving, and lengthening the time it takes to get off the ground, this effect can not be completely negated but is weakened by footing skills, while it digs through the ground looking for hunters it will launch rocks at random with its horn, if you get hit by a rock you get knocked down, the monoblos then targets you for a massive damage burst out of the ground. the counter for this is to set down a small barrel bomb with a large one just outside the explosion range, the explosion of the small bomb will trigger the targeting of the monoblos, while the burst out of the ground triggers the large one, which knocks it out of the super attack in volcanic zones that dont have lava in them, the monoblos will do the same thing as the previous version but with a reduced area of effect, however instead of regular rocks it will launch blast rocks or slightly molten rocks and can not be countered, however there is a larger window where the ground shake stops before it bursts from the ground in volcanic zones WITH lava, the monoblos WILL NOT ACTIVATE ITS SUPER unless its below 40% hp, when it does use its supermove in an area like this, a similar effect but in a smaller area to the reefs type effect will happen, however, the mud will be molten, which will deal damage to the hunter over time. only one rock rises during this, and players movement will not be as slowed. monoblos will only do its burst out of the ground during this version of its supermove, if the targeted player is standing on the rock, it will break the rock, which explodes like any other blast rock, dealing damage to the player if the player doesnt dive in time but also twice as much part damage to the horn, monoblos also gets knocked down for a full knockdown, and during the time while its down, its defence will be weaker due to the heat softening its scales i get that my ideas here seem like im favoring monoblos, but, thats because i feel monoblos should be the more tactile smarter monster while diablos is foolhearty and reckless the description may make monoblos seem much more dificult BUT these decisions are made with wirebugs in mind, as well as white monoblos being placed SPECIFICALLY in these areas for harder quests, with its usual area just being the desert this would make both white and black diablos feel more like unique monsters in the way pyre rakna or bob feel unique compared to their original versions
