It's kinda nice how earnest the new characters are. It's not Dune levels of self seriousness, nor should they really be as stylized cartoon characters, but there wasn't any real sarcastic joke about their designs or slapstick gag to diffuse the situation. It's like the filmmakers are really excited to be able to show Knuckles and Tails on screen!

Love the Godzilla King of the monsters music in the opening. Wow, I can't believe we live in a world where 2 of my all-time favorite franchises are getting the big-budget Hollywood treatment ( and I mean that!! Sonic and Godzilla I love more than anything. I don't think it's the Master Emerald like some suggested it was. The emerald is described as being "the source of ultimate power", and we haven't really known the master emerald to do much aside from controlling and neutralizing the chaos emeralds, thus why it's called the master emerald- it is the master to all the other ones. Sure, it very likely has its own set of powers, but given that we saw what seems to be the temple of the master emerald in the trailer, I personally think it's more likely that the master emerald will be utilized for that very purpose- to neutralize whatever Robotnic is powering with the chaos emerald(s)
