please keep in mind that the midgar arc was barely half of disc one in the original game. I f they want to do the remakes in 3 easy installments, they will have to make up a lot of ground by including a lot of the game on this one. that is why it is 2 discs

I love how everyone just stopped to say "ON TWO DISKS?!?" because they KNOW that the PS5 uses dual-layer blu-ray disks that hold up to 100GB per disk meaning that this game could reach upwards up 200GB. That really shouldn't be surprising considering that the first game was on two standard blu-ray disks on PS4 and many recent big AAA games on PS5/XBS/PC have been upwards of 150GB which would either necessitate two disks OR downloading a significant portion of the game. I'm personally a fan of them just using multiple disks and hopefully the game is pretty polished at launch so that the version on the disk(s) is good to go for the future.

@@Ristofec Or, ya know, this person simply played the game on one of its many iterations that have released in the 25+ years since the game came out that aren’t on multiple discs. So her, like basically everyone who played FF7 for the first time sometime in the last decade, experience with the game was as a single product and thus isn’t aware of the exact division across discs. You aren’t a fake fan just because you’re not aware of the specifics of a multiple decades outdated system of product delivery on a game that hasn’t been released as more than a single product since it launch 4-5 console generations ago.

A blank screen that says "end of disc 1" for 2 seconds that you immediately skip because you don't have to make the effort of switching a disc, is not exactly a super memorable moment that really sticks out as when it happens.

You can tell who the real original FF VII fans are by how they reacted to. The Chocobos (if they pointed out Chocobo Bill) The Cosmo Canyon Planetarium before we actually see characters Junon reveal (calling by name) And Zack’s timeline Cloud in the Reunion. I’m amazed how much misinformation is out there surrounding this game. - it was confirmed a trilogy last year - sephiroth doesn’t kill tifa. He’s messing with cloud’s head - it’s not open world - it was never scheduled to be released in 2023, they said winter. Which meant December - March

Also the directors have said dozens of times that this game is going to adhere to the original’s major plot points and events. And about tifa being jenova, you’re literally falling for the gimmick. They’re intentionally trying to make people believe that, when actually it’s just sephiroth messing with clouds head… yet again, just like the original.

I feel like people might be getting their hopes up about the 2 discs thing more than they should. Like I’m sure this game is gonna be big. But there’s an extent where it’s just not possible for something to be that massive. Remake came out barely 3 years ago. I promise, they did not make 2 discs worth of content in 3 years. There are plenty of big, large scale, content heavy, current-gen, AAA games from major studios, which took much longer than 3 years to make, that fit just fine on one disc. I’m not dissing the abilities of the devs here, but there’s a reasonable extent to what they can be expected to do, and expecting them to do what they did with Midgar for remake but with the full open world of OG FF7 is just not realistic in 3 years. Chances are what this actually is is since FF7 Rebirth is a PS5 only game (no previous gen release) it will be an Unreal Engine 5 game so the texture file sizes (among other technical resources) will just be way bigger than AAA games normally are, and that mixed with seeing a marketing opportunity, is why they made the decision to divide the game in two discs. That’s probably the more realistic thing here. It’s likely to be larger scale but have maybe somewhat more content than Remake, and most of the data is just it being the first AAA large scale game made in UE5. Which itself has some exciting prospects in terms of performance and visuals for the game, but isn’t the massive content releases that ppl seem to be reading off of it being two discs.
