You can tell how scary this is by how many comments are criticizing your choices. In a dangerous environment, only the best will do. They critique because they care.

Re the rigging - all anchors have been checked, all connectors changed out since this film was made. However the ropes are still quite old. Like Mark commented below, specialized equipment is really recommended for cave use, because the wet/sandy ropes will saw through ordinary aluminium descenders in record time. Having the ability to move UP as well as down is also a big safety improvement. This is a cave that requires training and preparation in order to be explored safely. Properly done it is very rewarding. I wish you all the best in the futere, and do see Mark about that SRT course :-)

Thats awesome - good work! Aluminum is indeed a poor choice for these conditions as we had to retire almost all of the carabiners and ATCs. I can agree that we cut the margins short in some of these clips. We did however bring plenty equipment to preform ascent and rescue, and part of the team had scouted the cave thoroughly the previous year. Several members are experienced mountain guides and most of us were trained in rescue routines. It was a great experience! :)

@@michaelisaksson4488 Hello, we are a group of Spanish speleologists who are going to explore this cavity. Could you give us the coordinates of the cave entrance?? We are doing a project to make the deepest caves in Europe, 17picos17simas (17peaks17caver), we have done Italy, France and Portugal, and of course Spain, which with its -1,589m is a large cavity. Thanks in advance. If you also give us some advice we will be happy to receive it. Thanks and regards

Amazing cave...you guys are wild....my biggest question is how in the hell do you get back up!!?? Obviously you climb but how....
@michaelisaksson44882 жыл бұрын
Thats the coolest thing about this cave! Since there are several entrances (one on top and two on the bottom part) you exit at the fjord and dont need to climb back up again. :)

Great video! Common guys you took some unnecessary risks with that equipment. Guys you gotta be smarter than that, Im sure you’ve got people that really care about you, I don’t know you but we have a similar interest so I care, be safe, take it from a stranger on youtube!😊
@markdougherty82033 жыл бұрын
There are some quite serious issues with your vertical equipment and techniques. Abseiling with no prussik (or you could use an autolock descender), only one cowstail, no rope jammers or prussik system to go back up if needed, abseiling with big packs and no chest harnesses.....well it's a long list.
@michaelisaksson44883 жыл бұрын
Yes, this was a calculated risk as stated in the video. Hopefully nobody will use these techniques to model upon :)

Wouldn't it be more like the longest cave but not the deepest, if the exit at the bottom is at sealevel? :-O At the beginning i thought, that they would have to go back the whole way!

Does caving ever map in 3D? Most maps seem to be 2D- do caves just not extend that must in the other direction, or is there another way of representing it?
@TheDJLionman2 жыл бұрын
yes, caveman hikes did a video where he used LIDAR to map a cave in full 3D more commonly cavers just sketch the map on paper but occasionally someone full on maps it in 3D, one of the struggles is of course every peice of gear you gotta drag through the cave slows you down exponentially.

Hur mycket av repen sitter där permanent vs satte ni upp?

Var bara några enstaka ställen vi valde att rigga egna rep, men de som sitter är inte att lita på till 100% längre.

@michaelisaksson44883 жыл бұрын
